Nomination[edit source]

I'd like to nominate Mu301 for bureaucrat. My reasons are as follows. Foremost, Cormaggio has been an excellent bureaucrat and we could do with more of the same. I think that in Mu301 we have someone of the same calibre, although with a lot more academic experience. The most critical things for any bureaucrat are respect for consensus, conflict management skills and an ability to be impartial. These are things which I see very strongly in Mu301. He also has a modesty, reflected in the belatedness of his overdue candidacies, which should help keep “power” decentralised. I know there are custodians who are more experienced and “senior” than Mu301, but I see bureaucrats as something very different from super-custodians. It will make WV a better place to encourage Mu301 to play a bolder role in administration. --McCormack 16:47, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the kind words. I do accept the nomination. I'd like to do anything that I can to help wikiversity grow and thrive. --mikeu talk 13:17, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit source]

  • I think Mike would be an excellent bureaucrat, though I'm not sure it will "encourage him to play a bolder role in administration" :-). He is a seasoned, solid, and dedicated contributor to our project, and has considerable experience directing students and organizing academic projects at the University where he works. His reserved approach towards policy matters is no conflict whatsoever with using the tools, as this is not, of course, a legislative position. --SB_Johnny | talk 02:12, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: I echo McCormack's and SB_Johnny's comments above. Mike is a fantastic contributor - thoughtful, helpful, learned, enthusiastic - everything we need. :-) Cormaggio talk 20:06, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
