Heading casing[edit source]

Hi U3202904. FYI, the recommended Wikiversity heading style uses sentence casing. For example:

Self-determination theory rather than Self-Determination Theory

Here's an example chapter with correct heading casing: Growth mindset development

Suggestion[edit source]

Hi there! I love how you formatted this chapter. As this chapter is due tomorrow, I did some moderate copyediting to correct some wording to make the sentences flow better and made sure all your references were apa 7 formatted (I corrected about 7-9 references for captalisation and italicisation). This chapter is very thouroughly researched and very well-written and concise. Due to the very close due date I didn't leave any suggestions as I didn't want things to still be included by the 9 AM deadline. Anyways, Congrats and good luck on your book chapter! Hey this is a really interesting topic, however I feel like your chapter could do great with a little about dissonance with smoking, as an ex-smoker myself, I know how hard it is to quit and the crazy things we justify to not acknowledge the problem I had here is the article, hope it helps https://psycnet.apa.org/record/1968-13611-001 --U3202984 (discusscontribs) 11:30, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Love the little case study, I really think it is a nice touch. Please consider using 'key learnings' box in your overview. Think about what someone will know once they have read this. You never know how useful it will be to someone and in the end, it will help you write your conclusion! My chapter has a good template you can use if you go into 'source editing' and copy the code (copy, don't cut) https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Motivation_and_emotion/Book/2021/Indigenous_Australian_well-being

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is an excellent chapter that successfully uses psychological theory and research to help address a practical, real-world phenomenon or problem.
  2. For additional feedback, see the following comments and these copyedits.

Overview[edit source]

  1. Well developed Overview.

Theory — Breadth[edit source]

  1. Relevant theories are well selected, described, and explained.
  2. The chapter doesn't wander off into discussion of irrelevant theory.

Theory — Depth[edit source]

  1. Appropriate depth is provided about the selected theory(ies).
  2. Examples are used throughout, which is great.
  3. However, some of the descriptions (e.g., about the revisions) were somewhat abstract, so some micro-examples in such paragraphs could also be helpful.
  4. Tables and/or lists are used effectively to help clearly convey key theoretical information.

Research — Key findings[edit source]

  1. Relevant research is well reviewed.
  2. Greater emphasis on major reviews and/or meta-analyses would be helpful.

Research — Critical thinking[edit source]

  1. Very good critical thinking about research is evident.
  2. Critical thinking about research could be further evidenced by:
    1. considering the strength of relationships
    2. suggesting more specific directions for future research

  4. APA style
    1. Use double (not single) quotation marks "to introduce a word or phrase used as an ironic comment, as slang, or as an invented or coined expression; use quotation marks only for the first occurrence of the word or phrase, not for subsequent occurrences" (APA 7th ed., 2020, p. 159).
    2. Figures and tables
