Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings (or sentence casing). For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title and sub-title[edit source]

  1. Page name fixed
  2. Capitalisation of the title has been corrected to be consistent with the book table of contents

User page[edit source]

  1. Created, with description about self and link to book chapter

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. Summarised with indirect links to evidence.
  2. Add direct links to evidence. To do this: View the page history, select the version of the page before and after your contributions, click "compare selected revisions", and then use this website address as a direct link to evidence for listing on your user page. For more info, see Making and summarising social contributions.

Section headings[edit source]

  1. Basic, 2-level heading structure - could benefit from further development, perhaps using a 2-level structure.
  2. See earlier comment about Heading casing.
  3. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
  4. Avoid providing too much background information. Instead, briefly summarise generic concepts and provide internal wiki links to further information. Then the focus of most of the content can be on directly answering the core question(s) posed by the chapter sub-title.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Write using 3rd person perspective.
  1. Remove or adapt generic template content.
  2. Basic development of key points for each section, with relevant citations.
  3. Key points are well developed for each section, with relevant citations.
  4. Use APA style for citations (e.g., do not include author initials).
  5. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles and/or to other relevant book chapters.
  6. Consider introducing a case study in the Overview.
  7. Consider including more examples/case studies.
  8. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section rather than having one longer quiz towards the end.

Image[edit source]

  1. An image (figure) is presented.
  2. Caption does not use APA style.
  3. Caption could better explain how the image connects to key points being made in the main text.
  4. Cite each figure at least once in the main text.

References[edit source]

  1. Good.
  2. For full APA style:
    1. Use correct italicisation

Resources[edit source]

  1. See also
    1. Use bullet-points
  2. External links
    1. Morality moved to See also

Chapter review and feedback[edit source]

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via UCLearn Canvas, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is an insufficient chapter.
  2. Overview - How does the case study depict a moral situation?
  3. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. There is too much general theoretical material (e.g., about morality). Instead, summarise and link to further information, to allow this chapter to focus on the specific topic (i.e., the sub-title question). For marking purposes, the chapter effectively starts half-way with the section titled "Moral emotions". The earlier material is general background info that is largely unnecessary.
  2. Some relevant theory is discussed, but the chapter would benefit from a more disciplined and less convoluted summary of contemporary psychological theory about the role of emotion in moral thinking and decision making.

Research[edit source]

  1. Some relevant research is reviewed but greater range, depth, synthesis, and connection with theory is needed.
  2. Greater emphasis on major reviews and/or meta-analyses would be helpful.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. The quality of written expression is below professional standard.
    2. Some paragraphs are overly long. Each paragraph should communicate one key idea in three to five sentences.
    3. Use third person perspective rather than first person (e.g., "we") or second person (e.g., "you") perspective.
    4. Internationalise: Write for an international, not just a domestic audience. Australians make up only 0.32% of the world human population.
  2. Layout
    1. Avoid having sections with only one sub-section.
  3. Learning features
    1. Good use of interwiki links to Wikipedia articles. However, these were mostly for historical and biographical information. Consider adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words related more directly to the topic (i.e., morality and emotion)
    2. No use of embedded links to related book chapters. Embedding interwiki links links to related book chapters helps to integrate this chapter into the broader book project. See also contains some links to 2019 book chapters, but to no related earlier book chapters.
    3. Good use of images.
    4. No use of tables.
    5. Very good use of feature boxes.
    6. Basic use of quizzes.
    7. The quiz questions could be more effective as learning prompts by being embedded as single questions within each corresponding section rather than being presented as a set of questions at the end.
    8. Basic use of case studies or examples.
  4. Grammar
    1. The grammar for many sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags). Many sentences are not sentences because they are grammatically incomplete. Professional writing assistance is recommended.
    2. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's vs individuals')
  5. Spelling
    1. Spelling can be improved (e.g., see the [spelling?] tags).
  6. Proofreading
    1. More proofreading is needed to fix typos and bring the quality of written expression closer to a professional standard.
    2. Remove unnecessary capitalisation e.g., Psychologist -> psychologist.
  7. APA style
    1. Use APA style for Figure captions. See example.
      1. Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets.
    2. Citations are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Do not include author initials.
    3. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Check and correct use of capitalisation.
      2. Check and correct use of italicisation.
      3. See new doi format.

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. ~7 logged, minor, mostly useful, social contributions with direct links to evidence

Multimedia feedback

The accompanying multimedia presentation has been marked according to the marking criteria. Marks are available via the unit's Canvas site. Written feedback is provided below, plus see the general feedback page. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below. If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a basic presentation.

Structure and content[edit source]

  1. This presentation focuses more on morality than on the role of emotions in morality. More focused part starts ~1:30 but then this presentation doesn't really answer the question: "What role do emotions play in morality?"
  2. Add and narrate an Overview slide, to help orientate the viewer about what will be covered.
  3. A more focused Conclusion slide with practical take-home messages would be useful.

Communication[edit source]

  1. The presentation is reasonably easy to follow.
  2. Well paced.
  3. The font size is sufficiently large to make it easy to read.
  4. The visual communication is supplemented by images.

Production quality[edit source]

  1. Communicate the chapter title and sub-title in both the video title and on the opening slide this helps to clearly convey the purpose of the presentation.
  2. Audio recording quality was excellent.
  3. Video recording quality was excellent.
  4. Image sources are provided.
  5. A copyright license for the presentation is not provided.
  6. A link to the book chapter is not provided.
  7. A link from the book chapter is provided.
  8. A very brief written description of the presentation is provided.
