These activities may be completed using any word processing application (Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Write, Apple Pages, etc.):

  1. Start your word processing application. It should automatically open with a new, blank document.
  2. Enter two paragraphs of text in your new document. You can write about the formatting features you see (font, font size, font style; color, text alignment, etc.) and where they are located.
  3. Save your document.
  4. Add a heading at the top of your document labeled 'Simple Formatting'.
  5. Change the font for the heading to a sans-serif font (Calibri, Arial, Helvetica, Sans, etc.).
  6. Change the font for the body paragraphs to a serif font (Cambria, Times, Times New Roman, Serif, etc.).
  7. Change the font size for the heading to 18 point.
  8. Change the font size for the body paragraphs to 12 point.
  9. Change the heading font style to bold and italic.
  10. Change the heading font color to blue.
  11. Change the heading text alignment to centered.
  12. Change the body paragraphs text alignment to justified.
  13. Save your document.
