Hasley (Talk) – Blocks • Deletes • Imports • Moves • Protects • Contribs
I would like to nominate Hasley for custodian. Hasley has made many improvements to our project over the last several months including requests for routine page deletion, protection, and blocking. Reviewing these contributions I've seen a consistent pattern of good judgement and a commitment to improve our project. --mikeu talk 01:56, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Questions
[edit source]- You have an impressive history of edits across hundreds of projects, and are a respected editor and rollbacker on many of those. What opportunities do you see to apply your expertise at Wikiversity and how would custodianship enhance those opportunities? -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 02:37, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- I have been involved in anti-spam/vandalism efforts for the past few months. Additions to the blacklist should stem the spam issue, while blocks prevent disruption to Wikiversity. Custodians can edit the MediaWiki namespace. I would like to be able to update some messages (see MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer and MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer-anon). Furthermore, out of 19 filters, only three are public. I got an email from a user asking for help, but my capacity is limited. Regards. —Hasley 15:59, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
- Most of that sounds like a great help to our project. One note: there are many items in the abuse filters intended to prevent long term abuse and block evasion. We need to be cautious about making those public. Also, only 12 of the 19 filters appear to be currently enabled. Some might be leftover from problems that are no longer active. --mikeu talk 16:40, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
