Wikiversity:Candidates for Custodianship/Cody naccarato

[edit source]Hello all,
I am interested in applying and being considered for the Curatorship admin position at Wikiversity. I am involved in a few areas on Wikiversity. I mostly focus on the Helping Give Away Psychological Science (HGAPS) page and subpages associated with this non-profit. At HGAPS, I got my start editing basic tables and learning the rules of Wiki formatting. I also learned Wikitext editing while doing assignments for this organization. From there, I self taught transclusion and developed a banner system for the fast dissemination of psychological information. Once I learned standard template formatting, I then updated the banner implementation and created a banner template rather than use the transclusion method, understanding and valuing the use of the standard in terms of future maintainability and easier usability. This restructuring of the page taught me how to edit templates, as well as the value of the standard template formatting.
Other current experience I have includes working as a technical editor for the WikiJournal of Medicine. Here, I work with wikidata creation and editing, coordination with peer reviewers, basic Wiki editing, and adherence to guidelines in this careful publishing process. Future areas of interest include expanding stubs in the fields of neuroscience and psychology, as well as template creation for Wikiversity. I also have some experience porting templates from other projects like Wikipedia to Wikiversity (example). I also have great future interest in WikiJournals, as well as using Wiki projects as tools for public health and information dissemination.
From focusing on the HGAPS and WikiJournal of Medicine, as well as other places on the mainspace and templates, I have accrued about 1000 edits on Wikiversity. I have maintained a careful nature to my edits, kept acceptable records of edit summaries, sought consensus for any problems that arose during editing, and adhered strongly to wiki guidelines. Furthermore, I have strong intent to continue working on Wikiversity for the foreseeable future. I also want to stress that I still have much to learn from everyone at this Wiki project, and feel that becoming a Curator is a logical next step and a great way to help with this project and further my understanding of Wiki editing. I am open to all suggestions as how to best grow my knowledge of Wiki, and invite open discussion on these topics. Cody naccarato (discuss • contribs) 00:47, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Questions
[edit source]- Your edit history is impressive. Have you looked at the differences between Wikiversity:Curators and Wikiversity:Custodians? Curators have additional rights to manage content. Custodians have content rights plus rights for managing users. Since we added the Curator role a couple of years ago, the path to Custodian has started with Curator first. Would you be willing to amend this request to Curator status? -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 01:03, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello! Thank you for your quick response and update. I would be willing to amend this request to Curator status. I will go ahead and make the move as well. Cody naccarato (discuss • contribs) 01:52, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- New curators should have a mentor, per Wikiversity:Candidates for Custodianship#Requests and Nominations for Curatorship - have you found anyone to mentor you? --DannyS712 (discuss • contribs) 19:25, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I am willing to mentor, but it looks like User:Evolution and evolvability may be a better choice since they have already worked together in a similar capacity. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 20:24, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @Dave Braunschweig: Thanks - I'm happy to mentor for now, and can forward on any queries I'm not 100% certain on over to you. T.Shafee(Evo﹠Evo)talk 22:56, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

- Support Cody has been a long term member of the HGAPS User group who has grown into one of the strongest coders and most active editors. Wonderful to watch him grow into the role as he learned more about it! Eyoungstrom (discuss • contribs) 04:49, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
