[edit source]

Hey, I suggest linking your topic in some ways to other book chapters! James would love it :))) Here are some 2020 examples https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Motivation_and_emotion/Book/2020/Compassion_focused_therapy & https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Motivation_and_emotion/Book/2020/Compassion_fatigue but you can definitely find more in previous years https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Motivation_and_emotion/Book. Feel free to check out my book chapter and please provide any feedback you may have https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Motivation_and_emotion/Book/2020/Nature_deficit_disorder :) - Emma

Heading casing

[edit source]
FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for sentence casing). For example, the wikitext should be:

== Cats and mice ==

rather than

== Cats and Mice ==

Topic development feedback

[edit source]

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title and sub-title

[edit source]
  1. Excellent
  2. Authorship details removed - authorship is as per the page's editing history

User page

[edit source]
  1. Created
  2. Description about self provided
  3. Link provided to book chapter

Social contribution

[edit source]
  1. Summarised with indirect links to evidence.
  2. Add direct links to evidence. To do this: View the page history, select the version of the page before and after your contributions, click "compare selected revisions", and then use this website address as a direct link to evidence for listing on your user page. For more info, see Making and summarising social contributions.
  3. Use a numbered list.

Section headings

[edit source]
  1. Under-developed, 1-level heading structure - develop further, perhaps using a 2-level structure for the largest section(s).
  2. Basic, 2-level heading structure - could benefit from further development, particularly around the topic - compassion training.
  3. See earlier comment about Heading casing.

Key points

[edit source]
  1. Direct quotes need page numbers (APA style)
  2. Overview - Consider adding:
    1. Discusses compassion, but not compassion training. Focus on the chapter topic and link to other content (book chapters and/or Wikipedia articles) about background concepts.
  3. Avoid providing too much background information. Briefly summarise generic concepts and provide internal wiki links to further information. Then focus most of the content on directly answering the core question(s) posed by the chapter sub-title.
  4. Good development of key points for each section, with relevant citations.
  5. Consider including more examples/case studies.
  6. Excellent Conclusion
  1. An image (figure) is presented.
  2. Well done on uploading media. However, it appears that you don't own the copyright for this image - it has been falsely claimed as your own work. So, I've nominated it for deletion.

References

[edit source]
  1. Good.
  2. For full APA style, use:
    1. correct capitalisation
    2. correct italicisation

Chapter review and feedback

[edit source]

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via UCLearn, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall

[edit source]
  1. Overall, this is an excellent chapter that successfully uses psychological theory and research to help address a practical, real-world phenomenon or problem.
  2. For additional feedback, see following comments and these copyedits.
  1. Relevant theories are well selected, described, and explained.
  1. Relevant research is well reviewed and discussed in relation to theory.
  1. Written expression
    1. Overall, the quality of written expression is excellent.
    2. Use third person perspective rather than first person (e.g., "we") or second person (e.g., "you") perspective[1].
    3. The chapter benefited from a well developed Overview and Conclusion, with clear focus question(s) and take-home messages.
    4. Avoid starting sentences with a citation unless the author is particularly pertinent. Instead, it is more interesting for the the content/key point to be communicated, with the citation included along the way or, more typically, in brackets at the end of the sentence.
  2. Layout
    1. The chapter is well structured, with major sections using sub-sections. Some improvements have been made to avoid avoid having sections with only one sub-section.
  3. Learning features
    1. Very good use of embedded in-text interwiki links to Wikipedia articles. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words and technical concepts would make the text more interactive.
    2. Basic use of embedded in-text links to related book chapters. Embedding more links to related book chapters helps to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    3. Good use of image(s).
    4. No use of table(s).
    5. Very good use of feature box(es).
    6. Good use of quiz(zes).
    7. Good use of case studies or examples. What happened to Bob in the end?
  4. Grammar, spelling, and proofreading are very good.
  5. APA style
    1. Direct quote at start needs a page number.
    2. Figures and tables
      1. Figure captions are OK, but consider being more descriptive to connect the image to the text.
    3. Citations use correct APA style.
    4. References use very good APA style.
  1. ~1 logged, useful, social contributions with direct link to evidence

Overall

[edit source]
  1. Overall, this is a reasonably good presentation.
  1. An appropriate amount of content is presented - not too much or too little.
  2. The presentation is well structured.
  3. Consider adding and narrating an Overview slide (e.g., with focus questions), to help orientate the viewer about what will be covered.
  4. The presentation makes good use of theory.
  5. The presentation makes little to no use of research.
  6. The presentation makes basic use of one or more examples or case studies or practical advice.
  7. The presentation could be improved by making more use of examples or case studies.
  8. A Conclusion slide is presented with a take-home message(s).
  1. The presentation is interesting to watch and listen to.
  2. The presentation makes effective use of mostly text-based slides with narrated audio.
  3. Well paced. Excellent pauses between sentences. This helps the viewer to cognitively digest the information that has just been presented before moving on to the next point.
  4. The font size is sufficiently large to make it easy to read.
  1. The video is well produced using simple tools.
  2. The chapter title and sub-title are used in both the name of presentation and on the opening slide - this helps to clearly convey the purpose of the presentation.
  3. Audio recording quality was excellent.
  4. Visual display quality was good.
  5. Image sources and their copyright status are not provided. Either provide details about the image sources and their copyright licenses in the video description or remove the presentation.
  6. A copyright license for the presentation is provided.
