Hello! As I was reading about your distinction between how stress can be good and bad, it made me think about a TED Talk we listened to in class which taught us to try to change our negative perception of stress. Hi, I noticed that you needed a definition to decipher between stress and distress. According to Selye’s biological stress model there is originally a stressor, which is defined as the catalyst for negative emotions such as an aversive event. This stressor is relatively subjective and therefore individual factors determine if it will turn into stress. Then there is the Generating Adaptation Syndrome, which is said to be stress itself. This stress includes an alarm reaction, a stage of resistance, and a stage of exhaustion. Essentially meaning that it is the physiological symptoms, the body is under pressure or stress. And finally there are maladaptive or adaptive cognitive behaviours, which are defined as distress. This is only one model, but it may be a research starting point. Here's the reference incase.. FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings (or sentence casing). For example, use:
