Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings (or sentence casing). For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Section headings[edit source]

  1. Well developed 2-level heading structure, with meaningful headings that directly relate to the core topic.
  2. See earlier comment about Heading casing.
  3. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Overview - Consider adding focus questions.
  2. Key points are reasonably well developed for most sections.
  3. Consider introducing a case study in the Overview.
  4. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section rather than having one longer quiz towards the end.

Image[edit source]

  1. An image (figure) is presented.
  2. Caption uses APA style.
  3. Cite each figure at least once in the main text.

References[edit source]

Chapter review and feedback[edit source]

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via UCLearn Canvas, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a basic, but sufficient chapter which provides an overview of the WOOP refers to some research and suggests some applications.
  2. The chapter could benefit from further development of a critical review of research.
  3. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Relevant background theories are well selected, described, and explained.
  2. The WOOP stages/steps are also described, but perhaps more indepth theory around each of these stages could be explored, with more examples or quiz questions etc. for each stage.

Research[edit source]

  1. Basic but sufficient coverage of research involving the relation between the target constructs is provided.
  2. When describing important research findings, consider including a bit more detail about the methodology and indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  3. Greater emphasis on major reviews and meta-analyses would be helpful.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. The quality of written expression is OK, however some consistent grammatical issues mean that it is not of professional standard.
    2. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., "As previously mentioned").
  2. Layout
    1. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
    2. The chapter is reasonably well structured, but it is surprising that there are no dedicated sections for each step of the WOOP model.
  3. Learning features
    1. Consider linking to the WOOP app (e.g., in a feature box).
    2. Some good use of interwiki links for the first mention of key words would make the text more interactive.
    3. Embedding interwiki links links to other book chapters would help to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    4. Good use of images.
    5. Excellent table.
    6. No use of feature boxes.
    7. Basic use of quizzes.
    8. The quiz questions could be more effective as learning prompts by being embedded as single questions within each corresponding section rather than being presented as a set of questions at the end.
    9. Good use of case studies or examples.
  4. Grammar
    1. The grammar for several sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags).
    2. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's).
    3. Check and correct overuse of semi-colons. Often a colon should be used instead.
    4. Check and make correct use of commas.
  5. Spelling
    1. Be consistent (e.g., wellbeing vs. well-being). Also, use hyphen for short-term, long-term etc.
  6. APA style
    1. Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numbers (e.g., 10).
      1. Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets.
    2. Refer to each Table and each Figure at least once within the main text.
    3. Provide more detailed Figure captions to help connect the figure to the text.
    4. Citations use correct APA style.
    5. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Check and correct use of capitalisation.
      2. Check and correct use of italicisation.

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. ~10 minor but useful logged social contributions with direct links to evidence, mostly within 24 hours of the chapter being due
