Quizzes and layout

[edit source]

This book chapter is great, awesome job!! I like what you've done with the coloured boxes to highlight bits and adding activities for readers, it sets it apart from other chapters. One thing you could do is add a couple more quizzes throughout the chapter, not just at the end. You could possibly add a couple more pictures as well?

Good luck with the rest of your editing!

Referencing

[edit source]

Hi, just formatted to APA standards for your references. Looking forward to what your finished book chapter looks like! Good luck. --U3054327 (discusscontribs) 01:45, 17 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Heading casing

[edit source]
FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings (or sentence casing). For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Overall

[edit source]
  1. Overall, this is a basic, but sufficient chapter.
  2. Overview is underdeveloped - only some draft focus questions provided.
  3. The chapter could benefit from further development of the Overview and Conclusion - it should be possible to only read these sections and get a good sense of why the topic is important and what is known/recommended.
  4. This chapter is well under the maximum word count.
  5. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.
  1. Basic coverage of theory, but overreliance on websites rather than academic, peer-reviewed sources.
  2. Heavy reliance on some sources (e.g., Samela, 2005)
  3. It isn't clear which theory/theories are used to explain EA?
  4. Overall, this chapter makes insufficient use of theory.
  1. Overall, this chapter provides a basic overview of relevant research.
  2. When describing important research findings, include more detail (e.g., about the methodology and the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship).
  3. Greater emphasis on major reviews and meta-analyses would be helpful.
  4. Some statements are unreferenced (e.g., see the [factual?] tags).
  1. Written expression
    1. Overall, this chapter exhibits a basic level of undergraduate written expression.
    2. Use third person perspective, rather than first person (e.g., "we") or second person (e.g., "you") perspective.
    3. Addressing the topic development feedback could have helped to improve this chapter.
    4. Some statements could be explained more clearly (e.g., see the [explain?] tags)
    5. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., "As mentioned below").
  2. Layout
    1. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
    2. The chapter is reasonably well structured, with major sections using sub-sections.
  3. Learning features
    1. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words would make the text more interactive.
    2. Embedding interwiki links links to other book chapters would help to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    3. Use in-text interwiki links, rather than external links.
    4. Very basic use of images.
    5. No use of tables.
    6. Some use of feature boxes.

    1. Use APA style for Figure captions. See example.
    2. Citations are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Do not include author initials.
    3. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Check and correct use of capitalisation.
