Test edit[edit source]

Hi, just leaving a social contribution, heres an article which explores the motivational effects of opiods, and the role of endorphins in mediating the reward. Hope it helps ! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3909169 u3115327

The following article examines the relationship and mechanisms of endorphins on behaviour. Will provide a brief overview. http://www.annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.1146/annurev.ps.33.020182.000511?journalCode=psych u3115327

Hi, just leaving a test social contribution here. ---- Jtneill - Talk - c 09:56, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i just found this source that i thought would be interesting to potentially add in your 'endorphins and mental health section' it is a literature review on the relationship of endorphins and mental health. i hope you find it useful :)

Naber, D. (1988). Clinical relevance of endorphins in psychiatry. Progress In Neuro-Psychopharmacology & Biological Psychiatry, 12(Suppl), 119-135. doi:10.1016/0278-5846(88)90076-0

Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Topic development review and feedback

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks will be available later via Moodle. Keep an eye on Announcements. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title, sub-title, TOC[edit source]

  1. Good
  2. Casing has been adjusted to be consistent with the book table of contents

User page[edit source]

  1. Created

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. None summarised with links to evidence

Section headings[edit source]

  1. See earlier comments about heading casing
  2. Basic, 1-level heading structure - would benefit from further development, including possible 2-level sub-heading development
  3. For example, the headings probably need to be more focused around the target topic e.g., there is no heading such as "How do endorphins affect motivation?" (perhaps with sub-headings) but there are headings around other topics that don't necessarily need to be addressed by this chapter.
  4. In tackling this topic, it could be helpful to consider the kind of motivations that are or aren't fostered by endorphins
  5. Avoid providing too much background/generic material. Instead briefly summarise background concepts and provide wiki links to further information. Then focus most of the content on directly answering the core question posed by the sub-title of chapter.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Key points are developed the suggested sections, but due to the lack of development of the heading structure, there is an overall lack of development of key points
  2. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles.
  3. Consider including more examples/case studies.
  4. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section rather than having one longer quiz towards the end.

Image[edit source]

  1. One image embedded, but caption has nothing to do with the chapter topic
  2. Consider enhancing figure captions to help connect the image more strongly to key points being made in the text
  3. Consider possibly increasing the image size

References[edit source]

  1. Good.
  2. For full APA style:
    1. Use correct italicisation
    2. Use the new recommended format for dois - http://blog.apastyle.org/apastyle/2014/07/how-to-use-the-new-doi-format-in-apa-style.html

Resources[edit source]

  1. See also
    1. None added - what was added to this section is an external link
    2. Provide links to related Wikiversity book chapters and related Wikipedia articles
    3. Also link to past relevant chapters
  2. External links
    1. Rename the links - example provided (the first one)

Chapter review and feedback[edit source]

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via Moodle, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a solid chapter.
  2. It is unclear why this chapter focuses on drugs, addiction, and dopamine when the topic for this chapter was meant to be endorphins and motivation. It appears that the topic was changed without consultation or approval.
  3. For additional feedback, see these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. There is too much general theoretical material about emotion. Instead, summarise and link to further information, to allow this chapter to focus on the specific topic.
  2. The Reeve (2015) textbook is overused as a citation - instead, utilise primary, peer-reviewed sources.
  3. Did you consult original sources such as Freud (1915)? If not, these should be cited as secondary citations.
  4. Relevant theories are well described and integrated with review of research.

Research[edit source]

  1. Several statements are unreferenced - see the [factual?] tags
  2. Good coverage of research involving the relation between the target constructs is provided.
  3. When describing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  4. Greater emphasis on major reviews and meta-analyses would be helpful.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences.
    2. Write for an international, not just Australian audience. Australians make up only 0.33% of the world human population.
    3. In general, avoid starting sentences with an author name, unless the author is particularly pertinent. Instead, what is of far more interest to the reader, is the content/key point, with the citation included in brackets at the end of the sentence.
  2. Layout
    1. See earlier comments about heading casing.
    2. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
  3. Learning features
    1. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words.
    2. Ideally, embed links to other related chapters, such as those about dopmaine and nicotine.
    3. Good use of images.
    4. No use of tables.
    5. Basic use of quizzes.
    6. Basic use of case studies.
  4. APA style
    1. Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numbers (e.g., 10).
    2. Provide more detailed Figure captions to help connect the figure to the text. For example, for Figure 4, what is the connection between Crystal Meth Rock and the chapter topic - endorphins and motivation?
    3. Citations
      1. A comma is needed before "&" for citations involving three or more authors.
    4. References are not in full APA style e.g.,
      1. Check and correct capitalisation.
      2. See new doi format.

Multimedia feedback

The accompanying multimedia presentation has been marked according to the marking criteria. Marks are available via the unit's Moodle site. Written feedback is provided below, plus see the general feedback page. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below. If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a basic, but sufficient presentation.

Structure and content[edit source]

  1. Many of the comments about the book chapter also apply to this section.
  2. Reasonable content selection - i.e., not too much or too little.
  3. Consider using more examples.

Communication[edit source]

  1. Basic multimedia communication - using narrated audio with text-based slides.
  2. Present to an international, rather than Australian, audience. Australians only make up 0.3% of the world human population.
  3. Consider including images, tables etc.
  4. Audio is well-paced.
  5. Narration could be improved by using greater variation in tone

Production quality[edit source]

  1. Basic, but effective.
  2. Because the book chapter topic was changed without consultation, this has resulted is some confusion/mismatch between the book chapter title and the multimedia title.
  3. There is a mismatch between the copyright license stated in the description and the license field in the meta-data.
  4. The presentation is under the maximum time limit.
  5. Audio and video recording quality is good.
