Really nice so far! I think you have given some really interesting info on theoretical knowledge and how it relates to your topic. The only thing I found a little confusing was all the use of different coloured text boxes everywhere which I couldn't see much of a pattern to (although they are pretty!). Hi! Really cool job. It's such a popular topic on the news right now that needs to be evaluated more. I like the statistics box you provided and how all the important info is in capitals in the box next to it, it really grabs your attention and lets the reader know just how serious the issue is. That's about the nicest layout for a quiz I've seen so far too :) Only suggestions I have are that there may be a bit too much of a distraction with a few of the titles being in that light blue box, especially that one titled 'What motivates one woman to leave a violent relationship and another to stay?' There just seems to be a lot going on there with all the images around it and maybe decrease the size of the purple ribbon image, so that it fits into the box. Hey! Really great job on how your chapter is structured - I think it flows really well from history to theories and models. The only criticism I have, there are a lot of statistics at the introduction. I understand you are trying to make the reader understand the importance of the issue, however this may be better if you picked a handful of really important statistics, rather than lots in different boxes. Looks great! If I were you I would make figure 3,4 & 5 bigger so you can read content. Your quiz looks magic. I would maybe space the boxes out a bit if you can or put two next to each other rather than three so it's no so crammed but totally your choice. Hey! This topic is such a powerful topic that reaches so many people that often chose to stay quiet about their personal problems. I think it is a wonderful topic to help women understand what an abusive relationship looks like. I personally have experienced an abusive relationship and when I went to talk to a psychologist he brought it to my attention that I was in a physically abusive relationship but he never hit me. The definition of a physically abusive relationship is any act of aggression that scares you/ makes you feel unsafe. This can include: things being thrown, restraining someone from leaving, etc., I think it would be helpful to discuss in your paper the different types of abuse and what they look like so people know what to look for (red flags). Hope this helps! I am excited to see the final draft. Cheers.

  1. Overall, this is a strong chapter. It could be improved adopting a simpler layout and describing some key research studies in more detail. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Psychological theory is well covered.
  2. There could perhaps be less emphasis on other external factors (although this context is important and integral) and more emphasis on the psychological motivators/barriers.
  3. The Overview helps to establish why the topic is important.
  4. Addition of case studies or additional examples was helpful. Perhaps an example which more clearly illustrates each of the TM stages and the role of learned helplness / overcoming learned helplessness could be useful.

  1. Several useful studies are described, but there was scope for perhaps more indepth and critical consideration of the available research.
  2. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.

    1. The quality of written expression was generally very good, although there were several minor proofreading errors.
    2. The Conclusion did an excellent job of summarising the key points.
    3. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., above, below, as previously mentioned) - replace with direct wiki links to page sections.

    2. Use default heading styles; remove underline
    3. Add bullet-points for See also and External links
    4. Reduce excessive use of coloured boxes, borders etc. aid accessibility; strive for simple layout (e.g., as per Wikipedia articles)

      1. Figures 4 and 5 could be larger.
  3. Learning features
    1. The chapter makes excellent use of interwiki links to relevant Wikipedia articles. There could be more links to other relevant book chapters added.
