[edit source]Hey Sam I've been reading through your chapter and it looks great! I didn't really know what power motivation was until I read your chapter, but you made it really clear! The new paragraph you've begun to write is particularly interesting for me when you talk about personal power motivation. I think it definitely makes more sense to develop personal power motivation rather than relying on external sources. I hope you go more in-depth with this area. Good job! Hi Sam, I agree that this chapter is looking great :) I particularly like that you've really incorporated the "self-help" aspect of this book chapter assessment. I'm looking forward to reading the costs and benefits section when it's done. I'm wondering (if you haven't already planned on doing so!) if you could perhaps include some famous people/historical figures for which power motivation seems to have helped or hindered in the costs/benefits area (If that makes sense at all!). Overall, it's looking awesome! Ashkrance (discuss • contribs) 03:34, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Hey Sam, youve got heaps of great info on power motivation. Are there conflicting theories on the topic? What about different scenarios where power motivation is more/less effective (like classroom settings, work settings etc)? I think youve directed the chapter well to incorporate the self-help aspect, which is great! As part of the marking rubric, there needs to be evaluation and critique of relevant research/conflicting research. I think if you incorporated more of that it would add more weight (and marks :P) to the subject! kell--Kerrington (discuss • contribs) 05:01, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks so much for you feedback girls! It has really given me something to think about. Ash, the idea of famous people and how they have benefited from power motivation is a good thought and Kell I intend to use the "costs" as some conflicting research. Best keep reading!Sammarris (discuss • contribs) 05:14, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Word choice change?
[edit source]In the paragraph that starts "David C. McClelland (2003)...." I'd recommend changing the sentence "Power motivation is about those you get in first, or more so, those how strive to get in first."
To something like "Power Motivation is about those who are in first, or more so, how they strive to get in first."
Also maybe change " Mine just so happens that it is winning." to "Mine just so happens to be winning."
Overall though, you seem to be progressing really well. I've also made a few minor grammar edits (sorry for editing directly but it's just a comma here and there).

[edit source]Hey,
I love your book chapter, its an extremely interesting read. I came across this youtube video this morning by Philip Zimbardo. It's called 'the psychology of evil' and it refers to what he describes as the Lucifer Effect which is about the intention use of power to inflict damage either psychologically, physically or morally. it was brilliant to watch. and i thought it might have been beneficial to your chapter

Overall[edit source]A very interesting and well presented chapter, well done. The chapter covered several models which was good to see. For future improvement, engage in critical analysis of the models explained. Well done The chapter explored some interesting and seminal research, well done. For future improvement, perhaps include some more studies on those with a high/low power motivation – i.e any experiments that look at other personality characteristics of those with high power motivation, or links with happiness etc?. Also, critical analysis of the literature is necessary. The chapter was generally well written, well done. The learning features were great, well done. The APA style was generally solid, good job. Remember to apply APA style to all figures, include page number in reference after direct quotes, and include DOI or web address for each ref. Great effort!Courtney.reis (discuss • contribs)

Overall[edit source]Overall a good effort, see comments below for feedback The presentation aimed to be creative, but in this the academic content was let down. The presentation only covered the basic points the chapter made and did not delve into any academic content, I think this was because it aimed to be brief. The presentation made good use of images and was creative in its use of the figures to try and tell a story, good job. For future improvement, incorporate this with the academic content as it didn't make clear what the chapter was about The quality of the presentation was sound, well done. The audio quality was good. Remember to include references and licensing information. Great effort! Courtney.reis (discuss • contribs) |
