Hey! I was just wondering if you were going to put a theory or two in your chapter? Freud discusses latent and manifest dreams, which could be rather useful :) Good luck with it! Pheonix (discuss • contribs) 11:06, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
Hey Pheonix, Thanks for your comment! I have been looking at Freud's psychoanalytic theory and how it relates to dreams. Just putting my notes together now and making them comprehensible before I post them up. I'm a bit behind but slowly getting there. Thanks again for your comment! I'll definitely be looking into latent and manifest content :) Kellieadellie (discuss • contribs) 12:07, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Kelly, Your book chapter looks pretty, and has a great introduction, with a clear Picture of Freud's Model of the human mind. It is simple and easy to follow what you have written. Just some inputs I would like to point out here: You would be writing more ? Explaining the theories, etc? Pictures?,Conclusion?, Reference List would need to be in the APA6th Edition format.Vin Raturi (discuss • contribs) 03:10, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

[edit source]This was one of Freud's famous quotes " Dreams our the Royal roads to our unconscious".See what you can do to further build on this ,if you think it would be relevant to your writing here.Vin Raturi (discuss • contribs) 03:15, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the tips, guys! Those links have been very handy (U3054911). Vin, thank you for that quote. I am writing more at the moment, just trying to work out how I can link all this dream research to a practical application for enhancing personal growth and development. I will definitely be adding more pictures and an activity as well :) will fix up my reference list once I'm finished, thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully I'll have my final draft up by this afternoon to get some more feedback, but you guys have been very helpful so far! :)Kellieadellie (discuss • contribs) 03:44,
There is an article here, which talk about Dream interpretation and false beliefs. The URL is : http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/pro/30/1/45/ . there is a free copy of this article there. Good luck.Vin Raturi (discuss • contribs) 08:43, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Feedback
[edit source]Hi, I like what you've done with this chapter and it looks really good. One thing I found though is that you are over referencing for this kind of format, its hard to do I know, but when you have 4 sentences all with the same reference, APA style says to reference all but for me you can put it at the end of the paragraph rather than at every sentence end, its just disrupting the flow of the paragraph having too many. Also I think it is always better to try and read the original source rather than refer to something cited in something else but if its hard to gain access to the original then thats understandable. Feedback
[edit source]Hey Kelly, really enjoying reading your book chapter, you've covered a good amount of psychological theories which is essential for any work on dreams. Im not sure if this would be of interest to you, but I have previously completed an assignment on dreams, and you mentioned REM - Nielson found that when a subject loses half an hour of REM from one night, the next night the subject showed a 35% increase in the amount of REM sleep in the next night. Not only this but Nielson found that those that were only getting short amounts of REM sleep has much more intense dreams than those who had normal amounts of REM sleep.
If this is of interest to you, it was published in In a 2005 study in Sleep, theres more information on it at this website - http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=strange-but-true-less-sleep-means-more-dreams Best of luck! :) --Jetlyn Payne (discuss • contribs) 12:24, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Overall[edit source]This chapter is beautifully presented, and is backed up by a balanced and sound approach. Fantastic work! The chapter had a broad coverage of relevant theories, and given the controversy of the topic being explored, I applaud the neutral stance which was taken. The critique and consideration of the theories was beautifully balanced, well done. There was a delicate balance of old and new research, well done. There was evidence of critique throughout as well as some future research suggestions, keep working on this skill for future benefit to the chapter. Great work! The chapter was very well written and had a logical flow, well done. The learning features were great, the figures were useful and the chapter contained appropriate in text links. For future improvement, perhaps include an interactive feature such as a quiz. The APA style was solid, just remember to include DOI's or web addresses for each reference. A fantastic effort!Courtney.reis (discuss • contribs)

Overall[edit source]A great attempt, see feedback below for comments. The presentation had good coverage of all the theories and the self help application – well done. For future improvement, some more research coverage to give more of the flavour of the chapter would be useful. The presentation made good use of images and some animation, well done. The presentation was well paced, well done. For future improvement, perhaps include music, a case study or more images to make it more engaging for the viewer The quality of the presentation was good, and it made good use of basic tools, well done. Remember to include licensing information. Good effort! Courtney.reis (discuss • contribs) |
