While nominating (rather than requesting) has not been our tradition on Wikiversity, I would like to nominate and mentor Darklama to be a custodian for us. Darklama is a trusted administrator on en.Wikibooks, and is by far more technically sophisticated when it comes to javascript and css than any of our active custodians. We really should have one "hacker-admin" readily available for us to solve tehnical issues: sebmol helped us with this in our early days, but he's not as active as he used to be, and over the past several months the only way we've been able to get help on technical issues is by one of the other Custodians getting in touch with darklama on irc and begging for pointers.

Darklama has made it clear to me that he will not be active as a Custodian outside of helping us with technical issues, but we really just need help on the tech side, and I couldn't imagine a more trustworthy person, or one with such enthusiasm for helping solve difficult problems.--SB_Johnny | PA! 20:03, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I accept this nomination on the terms mentioned by SB_Johnny, to help on the tech side of things as best I can and have SB_Johnny as my "mentor". --darklama 20:09, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions and discussion[edit source]

  • I think it makes sense for Darklama to be a Wikiversity custodian. Darklama has long been helpful in dealing with technical software issues at Wikiversity, often by way of IRC discussions. Custodianship should be "no big deal", but having Darklama in position to edit pages in the mediawiki namespace would be a "big deal".....a real asset for Wikiversity. Even though you are easy to reach by way of IRC, I think it is a good idea for all custodians to activate the email contact setting in the Wikiversity user preferences. --JWSchmidt 20:10, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
