Comments[edit source]

Hi, the page structure is looking good. Just looked at some headings and thought if you wanted to include attachment theories under some emotional bonding and talk about trauma with children and how it may affect emotional development. This could provide more space at the end to provide strategies for carers/parents in more practical emotional appropriate ways of child rearing. (Benk 05:58, 22 October 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Nicole,

Good book chapter so far. You provide a good overview of the theoretical frameworks and the main areas of emotions. I like the way you are going to provide an example of one of the theories by providing further detail on the little Albert study. One suggestion though – maybe you could provide real life examples for either regulation of emotion, expression or recognising. I think it would help the reader relate it to themselves and the people around them.

Are there only three theories related to emotional development? You may be leaving them out due to room/word limit but perhaps consider two more theories.

Very interesting read to see what emotions are more prominent over certain time periods and particularly how people regulate their emotions!

Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

This is a great chapter & excellent lay-out - well done - Magnolia rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall comments
    1. This is a vibrant chapter detailing emotional development through the various life stages. It is logically structured around some relevant theory and research. Extending the scope of self-help advice and further use of APA style would help improve the chapter.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Theory comments
    1. The text seems to provide a definition of emotional intelligence without specifically mentioning it.
    2. Discussion of theory includes an outline of limitations, demonstrating a level of critical analysis.

Research[edit source]

  1. Research comments
    1. A wide range of research is used to support the main propositions.
    2. The chapter would benefit from a summary and greater self-help focus.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression comments
    1. Additional wiki features were used effectively; images illustrated emotional expression, boxes offset study descriptions and tables were used to demonstrate key developmental changes.
    2. APA style could be improved; i.e. and e.g. should be expressed in words in text and abbreviated in parentheses, ampersand should not be used in main text and et al should be punctuated with a full stop and then comma separating the publication year.
