Comments[edit source]

Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks for your layout. I really like the boxes, and have lifted them onto my page. Thanks for your great work!I think our pages are at a similar stage, with some early ideas there and space ready to fill in with content. Your outline looks like it is well thought out. I agree, the boxes work really well to make content clear. Maybe you could discuss personality factors thought to be prominent with creativity?AngeM 07:33, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I was also going to comment on the 'creativity' of your page set-up. Look forward to reading content. Crazydaisy 23:55, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Crazydaisy[reply]

Chapter review and feedback

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via Moodle, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a readable, interesting chapter about creativity, with a practical emphasis. Perhaps greater structure could be brought to organise and integrate theory (to some extent it was a list of mini-theories and mini-tips). Whilst self-help tips were provided, these weren't really linked directly back to empirical evidence. As a result, the chapter is a bit of a Cook's tour. Other, more specific comments follow.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Several, useful, appropriate theories are covered. These could perhaps be better organised into a clearer structure which is explained up-front.
  2. It might be helpful to establish some focus questions around the sub-title - how can we be more creativity. This could help to better justify some of the sections.

Research[edit source]

  1. Some research studies are usefully described.
  2. Perhaps provide some accompanying examples of creativity exercises.
  3. Some of the recommended tips did not appear to be directly derived from the reviewed research.
  4. When describing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. The chapter uses a friendly, colloquial tone. This is appropriate for the self-help book style, but it could be boosted by deeper concentration on key focus questions and reviewing theory and research, and providing examples, that lead to a succint, take-away message about each focus question.
    2. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences
    3. Some of the bullet-points probably should have been in full paragraph format.
    4. Getting comments on an earlier draft could have helped to improve the chapter development.
    5. There is a distinct lack of summary in response to the focus question.
  2. Learning features
    1. Interwiki links could be added.
    2. Some images were used; captions could be more descriptive
  3. Spelling, grammar and proofreading
    1. Some further redrafting and proofreading would be useful - see my edits for suggestions and [grammar?] tags
  4. APA style
    1. Intext citations were well used, although some statements were unreferenced.
    2. References were in APA style, except for lack of italicisation.

Aw!! THIS is where we give feedback! I see now. Yes, a couple of lab sessions throughout the unit would have been useful for me, I think. U3043705 04:02, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
