Chapter review and feedback[edit source]

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via Moodle, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a promising chapter, with excellent raw material (i.e., theory and research), but the quality of written expression is problematic and there is little attempt to develop online book chapter learning features.
  2. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Relevant theories are described and explained.
  2. To improve, consider providing more examples.

Research[edit source]

  1. Some statements are unreferenced (e.g., see the [factual?] tags).
  2. Relevant research is reviewed and discussed in relation to theory.
  3. When describing important research findings, consider including a bit more detail about the methodology and indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., "As previously mentioned").
  2. Layout
    1. The chapter used a basic structure. Sub-headings have now been put into standard Wikiversity format.
  3. There is little use of learning features
    1. Adding interwiki links for the first mention of key words would make the text more interactive.
    2. No use of images, tables, feature boxes, quizzes, case studies, or examples.
    3. Add "See also" and "External links" sections
  4. Spelling, grammar, and proofreading.
    1. The grammar for many sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags).
    2. Check and make correct use of commas.
    3. Use serial commas.
  5. APA style
    1. Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numbers (e.g., 10).
    2. Citations are not in full APA style e.g.,
      1. Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets.
      2. A serial comma is needed before "&" or "and" for citations involving three or more authors.
      3. Remove author initials
    3. References are not in full APA style e.g.,
      1. Check and make correct use of capitalisation.
      2. Check and make correct use of italicisation.

Written feedback is provided below, plus see the general feedback page. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below. If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a basic, sufficient presentation.

Structure and content[edit source]

  1. Well selected and structured content - not too much or too little.
  2. Add and narrate an Overview slide, to help orientate the viewer about what will be covered.
  3. The presentation could be strengthened by adding a Conclusion slide with practical, take-home messages.

Communication[edit source]

  1. The presentation makes basic use of text and image based slides with narrated audio.
  2. Some of the font size should be larger to make it easier to read.
  3. The visual communication is effectively supplemented by images.

Production quality[edit source]

  1. Include the chapter title and sub-title on the opening slide and in the video title.
  2. Video recording quality was excellent.
  3. Audio recording quality was a bit quiet - review microphone set up.
  4. Images sources (but not their copyright) are well acknowledged.
  5. A copyright license for the presentation is provided.
  6. A link to and from the book chapter is provided.
