QuickStart[edit source]

Hi :) A quick tip that might be helpful: if you want to 'quick start' your chapter check the instructions in the purple box on the Book chapter - Author guidelines page. This adds template material and creates an initial structure, which is what I've done so far to get started on my chapter. Hope this helps! U3028335.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a basic, short chapter with useful content, but it doesn't make effective use of the wiki environment.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Good, if somewhat brief, coverage of theory is provided.
  2. Some examples are included.

Research[edit source]

  1. Basic but sufficient coverage of research involving the relation between the target constructs is provided.
  2. When describing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  3. Greater emphasis on major reviews and meta-analyses would be helpful.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression is reasonably good.
    1. Some paragraphs are overly long. Each paragraph should communicate one key idea in three to five sentences.
    2. Avoid directional referencing e.g., "As previously mentioned"
    3. The chapter has a clear structure, including Overview (could include focus questions), Body, and Conclusion.
  2. Layout
    1. The chapter heading levels were adjusted to the wiki defaults.
  3. Learning features
    1. No use of interwiki links, images, tables, quizzes, case studies etc. - would make the text more interactive.
  4. APA style
    1. Citations
      1. Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets.
      2. Full stop needed after et al.
    2. References are not in full APA style e.g.,
      1. Check and correct capitalisation
      2. Check and correct italicisation
      3. Include author second initials
      4. See new doi format
      5. Do not include issue numbers for journals which are continuously numbered within volumes.

  1. Overall, this is a basic, but sufficient presentation.

Structure and content[edit source]

  1. Well selected and structured content.
  2. Add and narrate an Overview slide, to help orientate the viewer about what will be covered.
  3. The presentation could be strengthened by including more examples.

Communication[edit source]

  1. The presentation is well paced and easy to follow.
  2. Visual communication is text-based - consider also using images or diagrams etc.

Production quality[edit source]

  1. A link to the presentation has been added to the book chapter (wasn't provided).
  2. Also add a clickable link from the presentation to the book chapter.
  3. The presentation is over the maximum time limit.
  4. Audio recording quality was a bit "roomy" - review microphone set up (make an on-board microphone rather than a headset microphone was used?)
  5. Use the full chapter title and sub-title on the opening slide and in the name of the video because this helps to match the book chapter and to clearly convey the purpose of the presentation.
