Contribution to your "why people cheat" section[edit source]

Hi there,

I was reading through your page and there is some really interesting content, it looks like it's shaping up to be a really interesting book chapter.

As interesting interactive item for your book chapter, I was thinking a case study of someone who has cheated, or the reasons why someone would cheat would fit really well into this section. Which in turn, could lead you into the next section where you provide theoretical reasoning for why someone would be unfaithful.

I added the tinder image (sourced from Wikicommons) and attached a link to the ashley madison scandal. Keep it or delete it, it's up to you.

Hey, interesting topic and it looks a s though it is coming along well. I have included a few JA that relate to online infidelity, a good read and some interesting suggestions throughout. I hope they are helpful and the best of luck with your chapter :) http://psp.sagepub.com/content/30/11/1375.full.pdf+html https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2802380/ --U3090066 (discusscontribs) 19:28, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edited syntax of tables, boxes etc,[edit source]

Hey,

I fixed the ted talk boxes for you :). If you don't like the lavenderbush background colour, you can find the code for changing it at the bottom of this page https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Help:Pretty_boxes. It's in the subsection that says Background. To change the colour go to edit source and where it says: background-color:LavenderBlush (your colour is "5=Lavenderblush") and paste a different background code into that section.

I also centred some of the text in you in the additional theories and descriptions box, and fixed most of your references for you. If you need anymore help just let me know.

Check the title - it is not the same as the book chapter table of contents. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 21:08, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki links[edit source]

This chapter could be improved by linking the first mention of key words to corresponding Wikipedia articles e.g., anxiety. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 09:38, 23 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chapter review and feedback

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via Moodle, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a reasonably informative chapter, but it could be improved by providing less generic information about infidelity motivation and emotion (which is covered by other chapters) and focusing more exclusively on the central question for this chapter, which is "What are the emotional effects of physical compared to emotional infidelity?".
  2. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.
  3. Feel free to make ongoing changes to the chapter if you wish to address any of these comments or make other improvements.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Clear Overview with engaging examples.
  2. Solid Conclusion.
  3. Abbreviate the infidelity motivation and emotion material and provide references and links to further information. This would allow for greater focus on theories that are more specific topic to the central question in more detail.
  4. The case study in the Overview is helpful - but perhaps could be followed through to show some possible reactions and outcomes.

Research[edit source]

  1. A reasonable range of research is cited, but could be described in more detail
  2. When describing important research studies, provide some indication of the nature of the method.
  3. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression is reasonably good.
    1. Write in third person rather than first person (e.g., avoid "I', "we", "our", "your" etc.).
    2. Some clarification templates have been added to the page.
  2. Structure and headings
    1. The chapter is well-structured.
  3. Layout
    1. Add bullet-points for See also and External links.
    2. Tables and/or Figures are used effectively.
  4. Integration with other chapters
    1. Good integration with other chapters is evident in the See also section, but these links could also be used more extensively in the main text to help link to these materials at relevant points for the reader.
  5. Learning features
    1. Excellent use of interwiki links to relevant Wikipedia articles.
    2. Quiz questions could be used to encourage reader engagement.
  6. Spelling
    1. Spelling could be improved - see the [spelling?] tags.
  7. Grammar and proofreading
    1. Check and correct the use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's vs. individuals').
    2. The grammar of some sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags).
  8. APA style
    1. The reference list is not in full APA style.
    2. Check and correct the use of "&" vs. "and" (Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets).
    3. Check and correct the APA style for how to report numbers (Numbers under 10 should be written in words (e.g., five); numbers 10 and over should be written in numbers (e.g., 10)).
    4. Check and correct the APA style for table captions.

Multimedia feedback

The accompanying multimedia presentation has been marked according to the marking criteria. Marks are available via the unit's Moodle site. Written feedback is provided below, plus see the general feedback page. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below. If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a basic presentation.
  2. There is a significant problem - the presentation is about "emotional effects of infidelity" which is different from the book chapter topic: "Physical versus emotional infidelity: What are the emotional effects of physical compared to emotional infidelity? And which one has the greatest effect?"

Structure and content[edit source]

  1. Overview
    1. Brief
    2. Tell the listener what they will find out about if they watch this presentation.
  2. Selection and organisation
    1. ~60 seconds on defining infidelity - abbreviate, so that there can be greater focus on the topic (physical vs. emotional infidelity)
    2. Basic coverage of theory and research about "causes of infidelity and emotional effects of infidelity", but nothing directly covered about "Physical versus emotional infidelity: What are the emotional effects of physical compared to emotional infidelity? And which one has the greatest effect?".
    3. Perhaps consider using more illustrative examples.
    4. Citations are included; references are in an unlinked slide - show them add the end.
  3. Conclusion
    1. Needs a punchier conclusion.
    2. A Conclusion slide summarising the take-home messages / key points could be helpful.

Communication[edit source]

  1. Audio
    1. Audio is clear and well-paced.
    2. Present in the third person (i.e., avoid "I", "my", "we" etc.) because the presentation should be about the topic, not the presenter.
  2. Image/Video
    1. Create a title slide
    2. Zoom in further on each slide
    3. Create a conclusion slide
    4. Increase font size to make text easier to read; reduce the amount of text.
    5. Consider including more images, figures, and/or tables.

Production quality[edit source]

  1. Overall, basic Prezi production.
  2. Meta-data
    1. Rename the title so that it includes the subtitle (and matches the book chapter).
    2. Add a link to the book chapter.
    3. Fill out the description field (e.g., brief description of presentation, link back to the book chapter, license details, and possibly include references, image attributions, and/or transcript).
  3. Audio recording quality
    1. Good
  4. Image/video recording quality
    1. Effective use of simple tools.
  5. Licensing
    1. A copyright license for the presentation is correctly shown in at least one location. Creative Commons.
    2. The copyright licenses and sources of the images are indicated.
