Hello,

Your book chapter is amazing!!!! It is coming along really well, you're information is easy to read yet very in depth. I can see how our topics overlap. The only feedback I can give is that your diagrams and graphs are a little hard to read - is there any way you can increase their size?

All the best U3081523 (discusscontribs) 22:16, 19 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hey! Your chapter is looking really good! Coming along together very well, sorry I haven't been much help in your process as I saw that you posted in my discussion quite some time ago. But I have an article that relates to job performance that you could potentially use in one of your unfinished sections: http://ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=pdh&AN=2010-00343-013

And you could also use this one: http://ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=pdh&AN=2006-07381-019 its about EI in young adulthood and middle adulthood, which you could use with job performance because of the age group :) Goodluck with the rest of your chapter, it's looking fantastic! --U3100166 (discusscontribs) 23:38, 19 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Feedback

[edit source]

Hi there, Your chapter is incredible. I love how you have used full advantage of the Wikiversity platform and included lots of different boxes and interactive features to brighten it up. My only suggestion is to consider moving Figure 2, as where it is placed at the moment between Figure 1, 3 and the subheadings looks cluttered and squashed. Best of luck. I hope this was helpful. 23/10/2016 - U3108945

Figure captions

[edit source]

Consider providing more detailed, explanatory figure captions that help to connect the figures to key points being made in the text. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 21:16, 21 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Structure

[edit source]

User:U3090066, avoid having a single sub-section within a section; either add another sub-section or merge the content into the higher level section. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 21:35, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Overall

[edit source]
  1. Overall, this is a strong chapter which incorporates a balanced, critical overview of relevant theory, some research, and makes effective use of the wiki environment. The main area for improvement is in the quality of written expression and simplifying the presentation formatting.
  2. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.
  3. Feel free to make ongoing changes to the chapter if you wish to address any of these comments or make other improvements.
  1. Abbreviate the general theoretical material and provide references and links to further information. This would allow more space to apply the theories to the specific topic in more detail. The chapter's answer to the subtitle question really starts with the section called "The relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance".
  2. Examples or case studies earlier on would be helpful (e.g., consider moving the opening of the case study into the Overview).
  3. Consider expanding the description of the theoretical components of EI in a work context.
  4. What are the individual take-away messages for becoming more EI in the workplace?
  1. Several very useful/relevant research studies are cited, including meta-analyses.
  2. When describing important research studies, provide some indication of the nature of the method.
  3. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  1. Written expression is OK, but could be improved.
    1. Some clarification templates have been added to the page.
  2. Layout
    1. Reduce (excessive) use of coloured boxes so as to aid accessibility/readability; strive for simple layout (e.g., as per Wikipedia articles).
    2. Tables and/or Figures are used effectively.
    3. Tables and Figures should be referred to in the main text.
  3. Integration with other chapters
    1. The chapter provides an excellent range of relevant links to other Wikiversity pages.
  4. Learning features
    1. Excellent use of interwiki links to relevant Wikipedia articles.
    2. Integrate more links to related chapters e.g., emotional labour.
    3. Some links to Wikipedia and/or Wikiversity articles were added as external links - these should be changed to interwiki links.
    4. Quiz questions are used effectively to encourage reader engagement.
  5. Spelling
    1. Use Australian spelling (some general examples are hypothesize -> hypothesise; behavior -> behaviour).
  6. Grammar and proofreading
    1. The grammar of some sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags).
    2. Check and correct over-use of semi-colons
    3. Check and correct use of commas (e.g., "For example" -> "For example, ")
  7. APA style
    1. Use APA style for table and figure captions.
    2. Check and correct the use of "&" vs. "and" (Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets).
    3. The APA style for the reference list is very good; remove issue numbers for paginated journals.
