Some people believe that music can also controls and helps relieve chronic pain. This is because music can attracts and engage with our attention and emotion, especially songs or pieces that we are familiar and prefer. These music have greater positive effects on pain tolerance, reduces anxiety and help us to increases the feelings of control over our pain. Yet, there is not much evident shows that how music influence the listeners but music is still using in some clinical settings such as palliative care, paediatrics or surgery. - u3165555

Overall

[edit source]
  1. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.
  2. Feel free to make ongoing changes to the chapter if you wish to address any of these comments or make other improvements.
  3. Overall, this is a solid chapter which covers theory very thoroughly to provided a well-grounded treatment; the chapter could probably be improved by abbreviating some theory to allow key research to be covered in more detail.
  1. Overview is effective.
  2. Body
    1. Abbreviate the general theoretical material and provide references and links to further information. This will allow more space to explain key research findings.
    2. Quotes were helpful, if perhaps somewhat one-sided.
  3. Conclusion
    1. Show good integration of concepts and addresses self-help theme.
  1. Good review and description of relevant research, but perhaps could be expanded in places - e.g., pharmacotherapy seems to be almost written off as useless - but the science is probably more nuanced/complex.
  2. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  3. Some statements are unreferenced (e.g., see the [factual?] tags)
  4. When describing important research studies, provide some indication of the nature of the method.
  5. Consider possibly reporting on meta-analytic findings.
  1. Written expression
    1. The chapter successfully addresses the topic and book theme.
  2. Structure and headings
    1. Each section should start with at least one introductory paragraph before branching into sub-sections.
    2. The chapter is well-structured.
  3. Layout
    1. Tables 1 and 2 could be improved by putting location, sensation, and damage into columns
    2. Tables and/or Figures are used effectively.
    3. Tables and Figures should be referred to in the main text.
  4. Integration with other chapters
    1. Limited integration with other chapters is evident.
  5. Learning features
    1. Add more Interwiki links (to relevant Wikipedia articles e.g., chronic pain) to make the text more interactive.
    2. Quiz questions are used effectively to encourage reader engagement.
    3. Answer to first quiz question was wrong (fixed)
  6. Grammar and proofreading
    1. The grammar of some sentences could be improved (e.g., see the [grammar?] tags) - check and correct use of commas (e.g., "For example" -> "For example, ")..
  7. APA style
    1. Use APA style for table and figure captions.
    2. Check and correct the use of "&" vs. "and" (Use ampersand (&) inside brackets and "and" outside brackets).
    3. The APA style for the reference list is very good; remove issue numbers for paginated journals.
