Hi there, I'm just looking to use your chapter as a cross reference for mine. Good luck! :)

Chapter review and feedback

This chapter has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing through the chapter. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Chapter marks will be available later via Moodle, along with social contribution marks and feedback. Keep an eye on Announcements.

Overall

[edit source]
  1. Overall, this is a problematic chapter because it doesn't address the topic (self-esteem and motivation) and relies primary on non-peer reviewed sources.
  2. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.
  1. Branden's self-esteem theory is well covered, however it seems that the chapter has been used as a vehicle to summarise his work on self-esteem rather than to address the question based using peer-reviewed psychological literature about the topic.
  2. Helpful examples are provided.
  1. No research appears to have been presented.
  2. The Reeve (2015) textbook is over-used as a citation; preferably consult and cite primary, peer-reviewed sources.
  1. Write in third person rather than first person (e.g., "we")
  2. Layout
    1. Use default heading styles; remove bold
    2. Add bullet-points for See also and External links.
    3. There is minimal use of Tables and/or Figures.
    4. Figure captions should be more explanatory.
  3. Learning features
    1. Add Interwiki links (e.g., to relevant Wikipedia articles and other Wikiversity book chapters) to make the text more interactive.
    2. Quiz questions could be used to encourage reader engagement.
  4. Spelling, grammar, and proofreading are excellent.
  5. APA style
    1. Add APA style captions to tables and figures.
    2. The reference list is not in full APA style.

Multimedia feedback

The accompanying multimedia presentation has been marked according to the marking criteria. Marks are available via the unit's Moodle site. Written feedback is provided below, plus see the general feedback page. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below. If you would like further clarification about the marking or feedback, contact the unit convener.

Overall

[edit source]
  1. Overall, this is a basic, but sufficient presentation.
  1. The content is quite abstract. Consider including practical examples.
  2. The content is not demonstrably based on psychological theory and research; the content seems to address a different topic (e.g., What is Branden's theory of self-esteem?) and, critically, there is little mention of the relationship between self-esteem and motivation.
  3. There is little review of research evidence.
  4. A Conclusion slide summarising the take-home messages / key points could be helpful.
  1. Audio is well-paced.
  2. Basic text-based slides are used as visuals.
  3. Consider using greater intonation to enhance engagement.
  1. Audio recording quality is a little 'tinny' (check microphone set-up).
  2. Rename the title so that it includes the subtitle (and matches the book chapter).
