Comments[edit source]

Great topic!!! I have never heard anything about this and cant wait to see it developed. All the best with your content building and I will check back and see if there is anything I can help with. Happy writing. --David James Stevenson (discusscontribs) 10:51, 8 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I have found a useful source which addressed the association between height and suicide risk among a large sample of Swedish men. The study found a strong inverse relationship between height and suicide risk. Hope you find the source useful! Source: Magnusson, P., Gunnell, D., Tynelius, P., Smith, G., & Rasmussen, F. (2005). Suggestions[edit source]

Hello! I have found some information which I feel may help you with your book chapter. Some height disorders include: Gigantism, a rare condition which causes abnormal growth in children generally caused by a pituitary glad tumor The pituitary gland makes hormones that control many of the function in the body such as sexual development, growth metabolism and urine production. If a tutor grows on the gland it creates excess growth hormones. . Turner syndrome, a rare chromosomal condition which affects development in females and causes short statue. i would also look at discussing how growth disorders how managed with the use of hormones. Also i would suggest you look into the biological theory to help explain growth disorders.

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a solid chapter. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Theory about the multiple factors causing height are well explained, with theoretial explanations for the relationship between height and mental health states also, importantly, well considered.
  2. In terms of "what can be done about it", the focus was rather physical rather than psychological. Psychological options could be expanded.
  3. The case studies were helpful.

Research[edit source]

  1. When describing important research studies, provide some indication of the nature of the sample and possibly cultural context.
  2. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  3. Some statements were unreferenced (e.g., see the [factual?] tags)

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. Avoid directional referencing (e.g., above, below, as previously mentioned)
    2. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences.
    3. Some of the sentences could be made more effective by simplifying them.
    4. The quality of written expression could be improved (e.g., see where clarification templates have been added to the page).
  2. Layout was very good.
  3. Use bullet-points in See also and External links.
  4. Learning features
    1. Quiz, several images; no tables.
    2. The chapter makes excellent use of some interwiki useful links.
  5. Grammar and proofreading
    1. Use abbreviations such as "e.g." inside brackets and "for example" outside brackets
  6. APA style
    1. The reference list is not in full APA style.
