Joint meeting with Connie & Leigh to brainstorm ideas for subject development. --Merivuki (discusscontribs) 01:27, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

2 July 2014[edit source]

  • Meri has tweaked the design so that workshops are face to face. Leigh comments that in this case we could focus on using some form of technology to augment the face to face experience.
  • Kerry has started a Youtube channel for her lectures. Kerry will produce lectures and upload them unlisted.
  • The timetable has been changed to reflect the flow of material.
  • Flattening out of topic areas and moving away from individual topic headings to amalgamate the materials into case studies. This fits with the assessment created for this subject.

17 June 2014[edit source]

Preparation for meeting b/w Meri & Leigh.

Agenda
  • Finalise assessment & complete/submit subject guide
  • Dividing students into groups on LMS
  • Advice re; feedback evidence gathering for online content development

MEETING: General Discussion about the difference between the SUbject Learning Guide and the Subject Template. We need to submit to Template, and the Guide goes to students at the start of the subject.

Assessment going with the Wikipedia editing assignment, we decided that most methods of editing Wikipedia don't really address or evidence the learning objectives. WIth the exception of the No 2 "Describe Barriers...".

So we're going to think about Yahoo Answers. Fictitious scenarios will be posted to Yahoo Answers for the students to respond to as groups. Each member of the group has a different task, from response summary, through links and videos, images and answering question. Remembering that Yahoo Answers is a large community and others will respond, both in the moment and historically.

Additionally, an exam will be used to either preface the Yahoo Answers assignment.

Groups was demonstrated by Grantham and is found in the recording.

Feedback for the purposes of response and change within the semester - where as the final survey only allows for change after the semester. Suggest using Google Forms for weekly short (5 minute) surveys. For example: "Do you understand the assignments - Y, N" on week 2. "Are you keeping pace? Y N" week 3. "Will you continue and submit all assignments? Y N" week 4.

16 June 2014[edit source]

Continued content development.
Finalised topic 1 and topic 2.

Sent topic 1 to Kerry in Word format (which is a mirror copy of the topic in Wikiversity) for comment/amendment. Sought due date of 30 June.
Finalised topic 3 and developed shell for topic 4.

Briefly met with Kerry. Concern raised re: not having enough time to adequately develop content.

Action

To solve issue of time for content development raised by Kerry, Meri will convert Kerry's content from previous years into online format and send to Kerry in Word document to make changes before each topic goes live.
