German: orientation

[edit source]

Hi CQ, I would propose instead of Orientation in German: Orientierung. --Erkan Yilmaz 18:28, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Capitol idea Erkan and Thanks for the hand! The orientation page is a sort of world traveler. My thought was that it could go to en, de, fr and es. first. On each of those Wikiversities, the Native tongue will go at the top followed by the other three. The sections should all have the same format and equivalent linkage. Once all the sections are complete, we send it to beta to pick up nl, pt, zh, etc. for the betas.
For example, Portugese speakers may be more familiar with Spanish, while Swedish and Dutch speakers might be more conversant with German. Hillgentleman has done a bit of work on some Zh (Chinese) pages at Beta. The Foreign language learning orientation page is intended to be kind of like a Rosetta stone. Know what I mean? Hi CQ, the Orientierung page is translated now - though I must still say that some of the links referring there do not exist yet, so I left them with the English links for the moment, until the German versions are available.
I am also thinking, if the page name should be better: "Übersicht" instead of Orientierung - but let me think about it. --Erkan Yilmaz 08:23, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't know Deutsch. To be a good translator, one should at least have some cultural background, which I don't. I've got a login at de.wikiversity, now, but lost as a goose ;) Interwiki links work, so you can move de:Orientierung to de:Übersicht (REDIRECT page is automatically created if the move succeeds). I use the m:interwiki links on the wikipedias and wiktionaries to find equivalent words, like a machine translation would do. CQ 11:16, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok, have created the redirect to de:Übersicht. --Erkan Yilmaz 11:44, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Interlingual Beta Club

[edit source]
Oh, and yes the Wikiversity:Interlingual Beta Club needs to be translated and placed on de:Wikiversity:Interlingual Beta Klub. Each version of {{InterlingualMainNavEn}} has the appropriate link at the top as Interlingual Wikiversity. I think Wikiversity translations is already there. See also Topic:Translation and beta:wikiversity:translation. CQ 03:48, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ok, then I would say, I start translating the Wikiversity:Interlingual_Beta_Club into German first. Perhaps after that also some people at German Wikiversity will join - at least it should be announced publically after this in the Colloquium there. --Erkan Yilmaz 08:23, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hi CQ, I have started translating the IBC. --Erkan Yilmaz 09:38, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Another thing: Wikiversity:Interlingual_Beta_Klub is not so familiar, how about if I use following name Wikiversity:Interlingual_Beta_Verein ? --Erkan Yilmaz 08:23, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'll meet ya at Wikiversity talk:Interlingual Beta Club. CQ 11:16, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
