We are indebted to the authors of OpenStax Astronomy for these slides: Andrew Fraknoi, David Morrison, and Sidney Wolff.

These OpenStax College slide presentations were originally in PowerPoint, but are much more easily opened as Wikiversity pdf files for online study by students, or even classroom use by an instructor using an overhead projector that is connected to the internet. These slide presentations can also be linked to from Miraheze, which would allow instructors to create a Dashboard like the one at wright.miraheze.org. At ZERO COST, each student can have a private wiki where they write essays or propose exam questions for each chapter without "peeking" at each other's efforts. The instructor can see into all these wikis, and the CC-BY-SA licensing will permit the instructor to upload the best efforts onto Wikiversity.

To get an idea of what we could do with an online opensource test bank, check out these pages:

  1. Quizbank/Entire_bank consists of over 800 questions spanning three courses
  2. Wright_State_University_Lake_Campus/2018-1/Phy1060/Studyguide shows a set of questions for Astrnomy students this semester. Both of these exam banks have many flaws; but these can be fixed. Also absent in the current bank are "secret" questions that only the instructor can see. This can be repaired by allowing each instructor to have a private stash of such questions on a private Miraheze account.
  3. File:Anonymous Life in the Universe.pdf illustrates what a student can do if tasked with developing materials for a chapter. The author was enrolled in a program that allows hich school students to take college level courses in their senior year.

In addition to writing essays and exam questions in wikitext, other ancillary materials can be created. See for example, this equation sheet designed for OpenStax University Physics.
