When the site notice changes to a new topic, increment MediaWiki:Sitenotice id so that people who have dismissed the site notice will see the new topic. Seehere and here

Also, MediaWiki:Anonnotice exists, too.

Fix

Voting on the closure of Beta Wikiversity (a multilingual project coordinating new non-English Wikiversities) is now open. -> It has been proposed (since Vasiliev doesn't like to be explicitly named; otherwise I would have preferred an active voice) that Beta Wikiversity (a multilingual project for coordination between wikiversities and for hosting new wikiversities) be closed. First of all, it sounds almost like it is "our" (ie the wikiversity community's, or whatever that means) proposal; secondly, the description "a multilingual project coordinating new non-English Wikiversities" is not accurate. So yes, please replace. Hillgentleman|Talk 17:02, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

It seems like MediaWiki:Sitenotice id no longer needs to be updated to show new messages for people who have clicked dismiss the old message? --mikeu ^talk 02:53, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
