Abstract

The geological structure of China is highly diverse. From ancient times to the present, there have been many strong earthquakes occurred in China. The only deep seismic zone in China is distributed in Northeast China. Since the mid-70s of 20th century, several deep-focus earthquakes occurred on the seismic belt. Some information data about the seismic belt are overviewed in this paper, mainly including background of earthquake occurrence, focal parameters, and damage caused by earthquakes occurred on this seismic belt.

Introduction[edit | edit source]

Hunchun - Wangqing Deep Seismic Zone is the only one deep seismic zone distributed in China.[1] Since 1900, seismic activity in mainland China can be roughly divided into six active periods. Earthquakes of magnitude 6.5 or higher occurred in the deep earthquake zone in Northeast China in each first four active period, and the seismic activity levels in the active earthquake period are also relatively strong.Cite error: Invalid parameter in <ref> tag
