Before you modify or update this template from Wikipedia[edit source]

The Wikipedia version went through an edit that removed the cite tag at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:EquationNote&diff=prev&oldid=624407998

Also, the current Wikipedia version causes a minor editorial error if used on Wikiversity. The bug involves the need to avoid a space when using it in a sentence. For example:

Equation 1: is a straight line.

Scroll the screen down so that you do not see equation 1 (That will show you how Template:EquationNote hops back up to the equation.)

Any link to our equation need to be written carefully. If you use the template without a space, it works properly:

Proper use of the template requires no space after }}[edit source]

{{EquationNote|Equation 1}}informs us that the slope is...

looks like this:

Equation 1informs us that the slope ...

Unwanted results can happen if you include a space after }}[edit source]

The space causes an unwanted newline:

{{EquationNote|Equation 1}} informs us that the slope is...

not only creates a new line, but that line begins with a font-changing space:

Equation 1 informs us that the slope is...

I am not picky about how we handle this problem. But for me the default is to do nothing and just remove the spacing whenever I use the template in a sentence.--Guy vandegrift (discusscontribs) 04:43, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
