Talk:Semantic MediaWiki
Add topicRe-purposing this page
[edit source]Would there be any objection if I re-wrote this page into a 'homepage' for a series of lessons giving an introduction to Semantic MediaWiki? It doesn't seem that useful as it is. Bongo50 (talk • contribs) 17:20, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
While I'm asking, as this wiki does not have Semantic MediaWiki (understandable considering the server load it can cause), would it be allowed to link to a non-WMF wiki that people using the course can use for trying out examples? I was thinking the Semantic MediaWiki Test Wiki (hosted by Fandom: I'm unable to link to it as Fandom links are on a blacklist but the subdomain is smwtest) or the 'official' Semantic MediaWiki - Sandbox wiki (although this wiki does have its language set to French and I'm not too sure on its policies). Which of these, if either, would be better to link to? Bongo50 (talk • contribs) 17:37, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Bongo50 edits wikis: I've moved the current content to an Introduction subpage. Feel free to rename the subpage after your content is more developed. (In other words, if/when you write a better introduction.) I would prefer that you not significantly alter the existing content otherwise, as it appears to provide some type of historical perspective.
- Keep in mind that Wikiversity is designed more like Wikibooks, with subpages. Each of your lessons should be another subpage under this landing page.
- You can link to the official semantic-mediawiki wiki. As you have already noted, you won't be able to link to the Fandom wiki.

- Ok, thanks for your response. I will begin working on this soon. Bongo50 (talk • contribs) 20:10, 2 December 2021 (UTC)
