Vicarious Embarassment

[edit source]

Hi Alexandra,

I'm doing my topic for Motivation and Emotion on Vicarious Embarassment - a few times in my chapter I mention how feelings of discrepancy can lead to embarassment instead turning into feelings of shame. I just thought you might find it potentially interesting, and if you'd like to discuss it more or mention it in your chapter I would encourage you to do so!

Thanks,

Hi Zac,
Thank you, I'll check that out! :) U3173387 (discusscontribs) 22:08, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Heading casing

[edit source]
FYI, the recommended Wikiversity heading style uses sentence casing. For example:

Self-determination theory rather than Self-Determination Theory

Here's an example chapter with correct heading casing: Growth mindset development

Topic development feedback

[edit source]

The topic development submission has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history for editing changes made whilst reviewing this chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date.

  1. The title is correctly worded and formatted
  2. The sub-title is correctly worded and formatted
  1. See earlier comment about Heading casing
  2. Promising 3-level heading structure – could benefit from further development by rationalising the structure (e.g., reduce to 2-levels? remove cultural considerations (not part of core topic, make some of the top level headings more descriptive?))
  3. Adopt closer alignment between the sub-title, focus questions, and top-level headings
  4. Remove links from headings - use links for the first mention of these key words in normal text
  1. Direct quotes need page numbers (APA style) - even better, write in your own words
  2. Add a scenario or case study into a feature box (with an image) at the start of this section to help catch reader interest
  3. Add a brief, evocative description of the problem/topic
  4. Closer alignment between the sub-title, focus questions, and top-level headings is recommended
  1. Need to address the question - how does the SDT help to explain emotion?
  2. Basic development of key points for each section, with relevant citations
  3. Strive for an integrated balance of theory and research, with practical examples
  4. Conclusion (the most important section):
    1. Underway
    2. What might the take-home, practical messages be? (What are the answer(s) to the question(s) in the sub-title and/or focus questions?)
  1. A relevant figure is presented and captioned
  2. Cite each figure at least once in the main text
  1. Promising use of in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles and/or to other relevant book chapters
  2. Consider including more examples/case studies, quiz question(s), table(s) etc.
  1. Good
  2. For APA referencing style, check and correct:
    1. capitalisation
    2. italicisation
  1. See also
    1. Excellent
  2. External links
    1. One of two links provided
    2. Use sentence casing
  1. Very good
  2. Description about self provided
  3. Consider linking to your eportfolio page and/or any other professional online profile or resume such as LinkedIn. This is not required, but it can be useful to interlink your professional networks.
  4. Link provided to book chapter
  1. Two out of three different types of contributions with some direct and some indirect link(s) to evidence
  2. If adding the second or subsequent link to a page (or a talk/discussion page), create a direct link like / Add direct links to evidence. To do this: View the page history, select the version of the page before and after your contributions, click "compare selected revisions", and then use this website address as a direct link to evidence for listing on your user page. For more info, see Making and summarising social contributions.
