Stereoscopy/Geometry
Appearance
This learning resource addresses the application of stereoscopy in geometry lessons. The learning resource is based on the Open Community Approach.
Learning Activities
[edit | edit source]- Install the Open Source software Geogebra and analyze the perspective drawings of projections on a mirror.
- Stereoscopy is based on the concept that the left and right eye perceive slightly different images of an object.
- These differences allow the brain to perceive the 3D space. Anaglyph images address that with a red and green filter for both eyes red colors are more or less hidden for the eye and the green filter hides green colors.
- green colors are visible with the red filter and vice versa red colors are visible the eye that is covered with green filter (remark the green filter could be replaced by cyan filter)
- (3D Cube Anaglyph - Red-Green Glasses - Animation) Analyze the anaglyph projections of cube in Geogebra[1]. Wear the red-green glasses (or red-cyan glasses) to perceive the 3D projection of the cube. Look at the image and decide prior to wearing the red-green glasses if the red filter should be placed on the right eye or on the left eye. Look at object in different distances in front of you and close once the left eye and short time later only the right eye. Explain how objects move horizontally.
