Intercultural competence

From Wikiversity

Intercultural competence refers to a particular type of social competence which involves being able to effectively interact with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Some formal ways to develop intercultural competence, based on principles of experiential learning might include:

  1. Alliance building
  2. Cultural mapping

These are learning processes based on the EXCELL program which can be adapted and incorporated into, for example, university-level teaching.
