Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings (or sentence casing). For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

@Jtneill Thank you for that! I have fixed them up now so they should all be in sentence case.--U3144248 (discusscontribs) 18:07, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Zwift[edit source]

Have you come across Zwift? Might be an interesting example. Sincerely, James -- Jtneill - Talk - c 10:40, 29 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Jtneill I had a look at the Zwift site that you mentioned and it looks very interesting. I would love to explore it a even more in the book chapter!--U3144248 (discusscontribs) 18:07, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Topic development feedback[edit source]

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title and sub-title[edit source]

  1. Excellent

User page[edit source]

  1. Created, with description about self and link to book chapter
  2. Used effectively

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. Summarised with direct links to evidence.

Section headings[edit source]

  1. Promising 2-level heading structure, but probably over detailed due to too much preliminary content.
  2. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
  3. Avoid providing too much background information. Instead, briefly summarise generic concepts and provide internal wiki links to further information. Then the focus of most of the content can be on directly answering the core question(s) posed by the chapter sub-title.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Consider introducing a case study in the Overview.
  2. Expand content about the relationships between EG and fitness motivation; reduce preceding content.
  3. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles and/or to other relevant book chapters.
  4. Consider embedding one quiz question per major section.

Image[edit source]

  1. An image (figure) is presented.
  2. Caption uses APA style.
  3. Caption explains how the image connects to key points being made in the main text.

References[edit source]

  1. Excellent

Resources[edit source]

  1. Excellent
  2. External links look like they should be references. Instead, provide other resources, such as videos.

The Quizzes[edit source]

I really like your topic! I almost considered doing this one myself before settling on mine. I noticed a bit of a glitch(?) with the quizzes though. The first one worked just fine, but the second and third ones didn't. The second one had the same question and answers as quiz number 1, but when I answered it, it switched to a different question and set of answers. As for the third quiz, all of the questions were the same as the first quiz. But other than that, I really liked reading your page! --Demimimimi (discusscontribs) 11:51, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a very good chapter that successfully uses psychological theory and research to help address a practical, real-world phenomenon or problem.
  2. For additional feedback, see comments below and these copyedits.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Relevant theories are very well selected, described, and their relevance to the topic explained.
  2. Perhaps also consider more targetted theories such as Uses and gratifications theory.

Research[edit source]

  1. Relevant research is well reviewed and discussed in relation to theory.
  2. When describing important research findings, consider including a bit more detail about the methodology and indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  3. Greater emphasis on major reviews and meta-analyses would be helpful (e.g., https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0,5&q=exergaming+systematic+review).

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Written expression
    1. Overall, the chapter is well written.
    2. Some paragraphs are overly long. Each paragraph should communicate one key idea in three to five sentences.
    3. The chapter benefited from a well developed Overview and Conclusion, with clear focus question(s) and take-home messages.
  2. Layout
    1. Avoid having sections with only one sub-section.
    2. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an introductory paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.
    3. See earlier comments about heading casing.
    4. Otherwise, the chapter is well structured, with major sections using sub-sections.
  3. Learning features
    1. Excellent use of interwiki links and embedded links to other book chapters.
    2. Embedding interwiki links links to other book chapters would help to integrate this chapter into the broader book project.
    3. Excellent use of images, tables, feature boxes, and quizzes.
    4. Good use of case studies or examples.
  4. Grammar
    1. Check and correct use of ownership apostrophes (e.g., individuals vs. individual's).
    2. Check and correct use of that vs. who.
  5. Spelling
    1. Spelling can be improved (e.g., see the [spelling?] tags).
  6. APA style
    1. Use APA style to cite figures.
    2. Citations use correct APA style.
    3. References are not in full APA style. For example:
      1. Check and correct use of capitalisation.
      2. Check and correct use of italicisation.
      3. See new doi format.

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. ~19 simple, useful, logged social contributions with direct links to evidence; mostly contributed in the day before chapters due.
