Portal:Wikiversity
From Wikiversity
This portal provides links to information about Wikiversity itself. The Wikiversity namespace has pages that provide general information about the Wikiversity project. This page serves as a guide to the Wikiversity namespace, particularly the policy pages. Wikiversity is a relatively new wiki community, so special emphasis is given to Category:Wikiversity development and how to develop Wikiversity. This portal also provides links to learning resources that help new visitors and active Wikiversity participants learn more about Wikiversity and how to use wiki technology to promote learning. However, since all that is really too much for one portal, most of the links to learning resources about participation at Wikiversity should be collected at this other portal. THIS page should mostly be a guide to policy and other similar "meta-level" topics.
Wikiversity began within the Wikibooks project (see the Wikibooks Wikiversity pages). A Wikiversity project proposal was approved that called for two major components of Wikiversity:
1) learning materials
and
2) learning activities.
The Wikiversity model for e-learning is discussed at the Education Portal. For more details about the origins of the Wikiversity project, see History of Wikiversity. Wikiversity policy for research is at the beta.wikiversity.org multilingual hub. Policies specific for the English language Wikiversity are listed at Wikiversity:Policies.

"..... the idea here is to also host learning communities, so people who are actually trying to learn, actually have a place to come and interact and help each other figure out how to learn things. We're also going to be hosting and fostering research into how these kinds of things can be used more effectively." -Jimmy Wales comments at (Wikimania 2006)
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." -Albert Einstein (discuss)
