Add topic- It is good work you have done, i had to rush that before someone stole my computer. Enlil Ninlil 04:24, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- That's just fine, I know the feeling. And thanks for the compliment! The school should be properly up and running soon. I'm really enjoying working on it. :-) --Trinity507 04:54, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
A little help
[edit source]Hullo! I'd just like to chime in and say that it appears that some of our interests may overlap. If you ever start working on a project in a field I appear to be interested in, give me a holler and I'll stop on by. I'm going to have to check out Ethnology—I'm definitely more of a Historian than an Anthropologist, but I've got a particularly sharp interest in ethnic minorities, and, most especially, minority languages (particularly native minority languages in Europe). The Jade Knight (d'viser) 05:31, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- If you could do any minority language work on Ethnology that would be fantastic! Definitely not my area of expertise. And I'll definitely keep you in mind when I'm working on future projects. I need to start linking the Ethnology resources to outside departments, the whole point of it is as an interdisciplinary study that overlaps school boundaries. Linguistics is a big one, definitely. custodian request
[edit source]Hi Maggie. Your request has been open for a few days now, so I just wanted to repeat that I'm happy to serve as mentor if you're comfortable with me. If you're not, that's fine too :-). --SB_Johnny talk 02:20, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your offer, I think that would be wonderful! I was waiting for you to get the message on my time zone (it's Central if you haven't read it yet). I'm excited for my mentorship, and hopefully, future custodianship. Trinity507 03:52, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, let's start! You'll notice you have a couple new buttons now: "protect" and "delete". Best way to experiment is create some pages in your userspace and see how they function.
- On your watchlist and recent changes you'll also notice 2 more options: edits can be rolled back, and you have the option to block users. Try rolling back your own edits somewhere, and maybe block yourself to see what blocked users see when they try to edit (don't worry, you can unblock yourself... you just can't edit while your block is in place).
- Finally, have a look at Special:Log/delete. If you go to one of the deleted pages, you'll see an option to view/undelete. have a look at pages deleted recently to get an idea of what should just be deleted.
- I'll be around on and off the next few days (working on the farm). Let me know if you have any questions. There's nearly always custodians on our IRC chanel as well, if you want to pop in! --SB_Johnny talk 13:19, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'll give those new options a go over the next few days. Thanks! Trinity507 21:33, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've moved the mentorship discussions to this page. Trinity507 02:10, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'll give those new options a go over the next few days. Thanks! Trinity507 21:33, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
plz halp me.
[edit source]plz remove "\bwikademia\.org\b" from http://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist - there is a community review about it somewhere around here. it may enable you to determine in a more informed manner if you think that it is justified for inclusion. Sir Soapy
- I must admit that I don't really understand your request. Could you please be a little more clear about what you're asking? Perhaps you should direct this to a more experienced custodian, as I'm only probationary at the moment. Trinity507 16:24, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Custodian discussion
[edit source]Hi Maggie, ready to go with my recommendation if you'll be around for the next 5 days for the community discussion. Let me know if you're available. --SB_Johnny talk 12:26, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- I should be around the next 5 days. I'm not sure I quite feel ready to go with full custodianship, though. Unfortunately I missed a solid two weeks of edits and mentorship due to being sick and then helping out sick friends and family (a nasty flu/cold bug definitely made the rounds). If I could have an extra week of review I think I'd feel a lot more comfortable accepting full responsibility. Could you just give me an overview again to see if there's anything I missed? And thanks, by the way, for offering to be my mentor. I realized later that self-nomination is not exactly WV policy. :-) Trinity507 04:48, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- There's nothing wrong with self-nomination IMHO - otherwise you're waiting around for "someone" to notice and invite - may or may not happen. Also no problem I think if you want extra time. -- Jtneill - Talk - c 04:55, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree: self-nominations are in some ways much better, as opposed to leaving it exclusively in the hands of the current custodians to pick and choose. Hopefully it shouldn't be a big deal either way, of course.
- No problem that you were less active for a couple weeks either, since (IMO) it's not really supposed to be a full time job. I was inactive for a couple weeks there as well, due to mind-numbing flu and having to make up lost work time due to the mind-numbing flu :-). We're actually a week or 2 behind schedule anyway, so since you'll be around I'll post my recommendation after I get back from work today. --SB_Johnny talk 11:08, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations on your new status as full custodian! [1] --mikeu talk 11:22, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Please add your userpage to Category:Wikiversity custodians (there is also a userbox that you could use, but that is a matter of personal taste) and update WV:STAFF. --mikeu talk 11:44, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Congrats!
[edit source]Good to have you aboard :-). I really like your updates to your userpage as well! --SB_Johnny talk 22:53, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Huh?
[edit source]What's this about? --SB_Johnny talk 10:24, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know either. I definitely don't mess around in the Colloquium. I don't know why that's "me" doing it! :-S --Trinity507 17:25, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- I checked it out in my contributions and that happened while I was online, but working on something else (Fiction writing support group). I didn't intentionally edit anything in the colloquium, I'm not even sure I looked at anything in the colloquium, and I don't see how I could have done that by accident. Any explanations? Because I sure don't know what happened. :-( I haven't used the rollback anywhere but in my own userspace yet. Trinity507 17:29, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- No idea. Never a bad idea to recheck your watchlist before logging off though, for myriad reasons. --SB_Johnny talk 20:37, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- All right, I'll start checking, I do sometimes but it will definitely be a full-time habit now. I'm sorry you had to clean up after that. Trinity507 04:48, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

{{Handout}}
[edit source]Well done - thanks for this! . -- Jtneill - Talk - c 00:03, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- One little thing, I just noticed - you should redirect {{Handouts}} to {{Handout}} (rather than have separate code there). -- Jtneill - Talk - c 00:05, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- Excellent, glad you liked it. I fixed the redirect, sorry about that! :-) Trinity507 02:23, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Cat clean-up
[edit source]I was mostly trying to clean up the new military history departments links which we scattered and had little cohesion, As such I cleaned out the old War cat and started the Military History Cat. I've noticed a bunch of places where scattered cats really hurt navigation. My current hope is to clean up what looks to be the unmanaged history portal in general and as such have done little else to the School of Ethnology. Maybe if we can provide an easily navigable interface the traffic will pick up, the good news is that wikiversity is still small so clean-up should be easy - thanks for the feedback, and if you have any suggestions for my clean up please just let me know! Twitter password
[edit source]I don't see why any trusted member of Wikiversity can't tweet appropriately on the account - and custodianship is clear indication of trust. I'll email you the password. I've been pretty inactive lately with tweeting for Wikiversity, so would appreciate new activity! Sincerely, James -- Jtneill - Talk - c 04:42, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
You are invited to register for the Wikiversity Assembly
[edit source]- The Wikiversity:Assembly has been established as a technique for developing reports on topics of import for Wikiversity administration. The Assembly is not a decision-making body, per se. Rather, it is designed to create or discover or estimate consensus, through focused, facilitated, thorough deliberation. Assembly reports may be referenced in regular Wikiversity discussions, but will not directly control outcomes. Where full consensus is not found, minority reports may be issued.
- I invite you to register for the Wikiversity:Assembly by adding your user name to the Wikiversity:Delegable proxy/Table.
- Registering for the Assembly creates no specific obligation, but does consent to direct communication as the Assembly may determine is appropriate. You may opt out of such direct communication by adding "no messages" to the Table when you register, in the user comment field, but it is unlikely that the default (communication allowed) will create burdensome traffic for you.
You are invited to name a proxy
[edit source]- When you register for the Assembly, you may optionally designate a "proxy."
- I suggest that you nominate, as a proxy, the user whom you most trust to participate positively in a Wikiversity discussion if you are unable to participate yourself. The proxy will not be voting for you in any process. Rather, the proxy will be considered to loosely represent you, as a means of estimating probable large-scale consensus based on small-scale participation, in the event that you do not personally participate.
- If you name a proxy, you will be consenting to direct communication with you by that proxy. If a named proxy accepts the proxy, you become, as long as you maintain the nomination (you may change it at any time), the "client" of the proxy, and by accepting, a proxy has consented to direct communication from the client.
- See Wikiversity:Delegable proxy for details.
Comments
[edit source]I'm inviting all relatively inactive custodians to register for the Assembly, and to name a proxy as described. This is because you who have been and remain custodians have yourselves been trusted by the community, and your proxy choice, if you name one, may carry some reasonable weight, due to your experience. You may, of course, participate directly, whether you do or do not name a proxy. Thanks for considering this. --Abd 01:42, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Your admin status
[edit source]Hello. I'm a steward. A new policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus recently. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on wikis with no inactivity policy. You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on enwikiversity, where you are an administrator. Since that wiki does not have its own administrators' rights review process, the global one applies. If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights, and demonstrate a continued requirement to maintain these rights. We stewards will evaluate the responses. If there is no response at all after approximately one month, we will proceed to remove your administrative rights. In cases of doubt, we will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact us on m:Stewards' noticeboard. Best regards, Rschen7754 21:07, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
