This page is part of the MOOC interface documentation.

This page shows teachers how to create a MOOC - simple and clean.

Start a new MOOC[edit source]

Follow this 5 steps:

  1. go to the MOOC category page that lists all existing MOOCs
  2. click the add button at the category page to open the creation dialogue
  3. enter a title for the MOOC
  4. (optional) enter a summary
  5. click "Create MOOC" to create your MOOC

Please be patient after finishing this process. You will get redirected to your MOOC when it was created successfully. You can always find your MOOC by browsing to the MOOC category page listing all MOOCs. The MOOC overview displays the list of lessons with their units and the navigation bar. A fresh MOOC is empty of course, but you can start adding lessons and units immediately.

Add lessons[edit source]

  1. Browse to your MOOC. If you followed the 5 steps you should be on the correct page already.
  2. Click the new lesson button in the lessons section to open the creation dialogue. If your MOOC contains lessons you can find this button at the bottom of the section.
  3. Enter a title for the lesson and a summary, if you wish to.
  4. Click "Add lesson" to add the lesson to your MOOC.

Please be patient. The page will reload after the lesson was added successfully. You should be able to see your new lesson in the navigation bar then. The link to your lesson might be a redlink because there is no wiki page existing for your lesson yet. You can click on this link in the navigation bar anyway and the MOOC interface will create this page for you. You can now add units to your lesson.

Add units[edit source]

  1. Browse to the lesson you want to add the unit to.
  2. Click the new unit button in the associated units section to open the creation dialogue. If your lesson contains units you can find this button at the bottom of the section.
  3. Enter a title for the unit and a summary, if you wish to.
  4. Click "Add unit" to add the unit to the lesson.

Please be patient. The page will reload after the unit was added successfully. You should be able to see your new unit in the navigation bar then. The link to your unit might be a redlink because there is no wiki page existing for your unit yet. You can click on this link in the navigation bar anyway and the MOOC interface will create this page for you.

You can now make changes to your unit: Define learning goals, further reading or create a quiz. Use the edit button in the appropriate section. Try it out! However, if you are interested in what you can define before playing around, read the process of creating MOOCs.
