Wikiversity:License tags

From Wikiversity
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The templates listed on this page should be used to indicate the license(s) under which media files uploaded to Wikiversity are published. Generally, media files published under a free license should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Files may be published under multiple licenses.

Each file page should have a template indicating how it is licensed. This is required by Wikimedia Foundation policy, and is simply good practice. Re-users of Wikiversity content expect it will be freely-reusable. Some media, however, has certain restrictions in the licensing (for example the share-alike clause of some Creative Commons licenses), which the re-user must be able to easily determine. License templates categorize media so it can easily be determined what is reusable and under what conditions.

How to add a license template[edit source]

If you did not add the template at the time of upload, you must edit the image description page. Do not re-upload the image; you will not be able to update the licensing or source information that way. Instead, click the edit this page tab at the top of the page, and add in the template like this: {{Templatename}}. Be careful to note the case of template names; only the first letter is case-insensitive.
