The Idea Incubator/Eyelevel Video Camera

From Wikiversity

It is known that people engage more fully in face-to face discussions than they do over Zoom-style video calls.[1]

One remedy suggested for this is to place the camera at eye level, rather than above as is now done. This is difficult because it requires a hole in the middle of the display screen for the camera.

What if the display screen itself could also act as the camera? One approach would be to disperse CCD sensors among the pixel array throughout the display screen.

Perhaps a CCD sensor could be substituted for the fourth element in each display pixel.

Image data from this wide array of sensors can be integrated (electronically and computationally) onto a single high-resolution image.

Also, the “camera angle” could be adjusted computationally by favoring some sensors elements over others. Perhaps a 3D image can be captured.
