Treatment of guests

[edit source]

@Lyndallharris7: Good discussion here. I especially like how you notice what is odd about the way guests are treated (i.e. how the queen responds to Odysseus). I'm seeing some connections behind the ideas of hospitality/welcoming guests and exile (which was added by Ash). Do you think you could discuss what "home" means in your book, and then consider these two examples as different ways that Homer is expressing Greek ideas about home? @AshGarrett: if you would like to chime in here, or contribute to this idea, that would be fantastic! -Joey Cross (discusscontribs) 16:11, 21 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Joey Cross: I can talk about what home means, thank you for that idea. What section do you think it would best fall under? Or do you think it should have its own?

Religious Beliefs and the Treatment of Gods

[edit source]

@AshGarrett: You make the connection between the Greek belief about the gods and the way that they treat guests. This is really interesting. There are lots of ways that your contributions and Lyndall's intersect. To get started on the process of trying to combine yours and Lyndall's approaches, can you write a bit more about this connection? I'm really interested to hear what you have to say. If you want to discuss it here before editing, I'm happy to chime in! -Joey Cross (discusscontribs) 16:11, 21 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
