I envisioned working more on training and also on advocacy but not generally topically on service dogs, which could include other things such as sociology of them, history, etc. Not sure how to procede maybe a portal or a school of training trainers but then again my focus is developmental research not dissemination of received wisdom. Wikiversity is open to almost any learning project you envision. But the preferred approach would be to figure out an overarching topic and then build under that. We have plenty of individual lessons here, but they don't draw learners. The popular topics are those that are more extensive. In other words, if you build a course or learning project of some type, those who are interested will find it and read it. If it's just a page here and there, it gets overlooked and forgotten. So, think about what you have in mind relates to. I suspect when you mention training trainers, you mean trainers of dogs. I'm a trainer. I train people to use computers. But I don't have any learning projects on training, I have learning projects on computer topics. If what you are considering is still related to service dogs, you should expand the existing topic. Add a Service Dogs/Training page and go from there. At least that would be my recommendation.
By the way, the only reason I saw this post is because it was a new page. If you want to reach me directly and reliably, leave a message on my talk page. Thanks! -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 02:16, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

To do: Weave in or critique this page linked

That is sort of a starting point.

I appreciate Dave's suggestions but not sure it is quite clear to me what the distinction is betwen an "overarching" topic and a page on "training". But I admit that it seems almost like I am building a book rather than a WU project. But bear with me this will morph into a project.

One thing I am not entirely clear on but it seems as if a WU project is more amenable to scoping as defined by the project creator, as would be a book, whereas as WP page must adhere to a very specific topical scope which is inherent in the name of the page.

So to follow Dave's idea, I think, and to create WU Service DOg Training, can this project be redefined or on the other hand would it be proper to start a different one from scratch and then link to it?
