Starter reference[edit source]

Hi there, I did extensive research on subjective well-being for my workplace and found this article to be extremely helpful when defining well-being: Dodge, R., Daly, A. P., Huyton, J., & Sanders, L. D. (2012). The challenge of defining wellbeing. International journal of wellbeing. 2(3). Also note that the journal this comes from is the 'International journal of wellbeing' - I think there would be some helpful research there! -U3190467 (discusscontribs) 00:46, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit source]

Hey! I just thought that it may be interesting to discuss how subjective well-being may progress across the lifespan ! Here is an article that may help contribute to the development of your chapter: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0140673613614890?casa_token=D_H6ruX3a0oAAAAA:HrjnRjuSytrmVGGXL-LTqtklABEP1DceX-gBUCFwIap7DWumfRk42liXwc6nShUYlRpFRGUC0qc This article is from Steptoe et al., (2015) and reviews this idea and discusses this pattern as we age! Hope this helps ! --U3190016 (discusscontribs) 04:19, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback[edit source]

Hey this seems to be a very interesting topic. I would suggest adding a case study or example within the subjective wellbeing and emotion section to give the reader something to relate to. I would also suggest making the image of Maslow's hierarchy of needs larger so that readers can clearly see what it says. It could also be interesting to look into the impact of culture on subjective well being. I had a look into the article below that seems to be indicating that culture has an influence on SWB.https://www.annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.1146/annurev.psych.54.101601.145056?casa_token=g9fxR3jdpMMAAAAA%3Adv8kLJBMfgDImGuI838XeNOwC2g3fQwdJv1WtEOoiWn4zDUUBb89X7W8U-4vWImIIesjeNIZe0vpmA

The topic development has been reviewed according to the marking criteria. Written feedback is provided below, plus there is a general feedback page. Please also check the chapter's page history to check for editing changes made whilst reviewing the chapter plan. Responses to this feedback can be made by starting a new section below and/or contacting the reviewer. Topic development marks are available via UCLearn. Note that marks are based on what was available before the due date, whereas the comments may also be based on all material available at time of providing this feedback.

Title and sub-title[edit source]

  1. OK
  2. Sub-title has been corrected to be consistent with the book table of contents

User page[edit source]

  1. Created
  2. Minimal, but sufficient
  3. About me
    1. Consider developing a better description about self
    2. Consider linking to your eportfolio
  4. Link provided to book chapter

Social contribution[edit source]

  1. Summarised with indirect link(s) to evidence.
  2. Add direct links to evidence. To do this: View the page history, select the version of the page before and after your contributions, click "compare selected revisions", and then use this website address as a direct link to evidence for listing on your user page. For more info, see Making and summarising social contributions.

Section headings[edit source]

  1. Could be improved by aligning more close with the sub-title.
  2. I'm not convinced that Maslow's hierarchy of needs is amongst the most important theories on this topic - have a closer read of the SWB academic literature.
  1. Under-developed, 1-level heading structure - develop further, perhaps using a 2-level structure for the largest section(s).
  2. Basic, 1-level heading structure - could benefit from further development, perhaps using a 2-level structure.
  3. Aim for 3 to 6 top-level headings between the Overview and Conclus, with up to a similar number of sub-headings for large sections.
  4. Promising 2-level heading structure - could benefit from further development by expanding the structure.
  5. Well developed 2-level heading structure, with meaningful headings that directly relate to the core topic.
  6. Overly complicated 3-level structure - consider simplifying.
  7. Avoid having sections with 1 sub-heading - use 0 or 2+ sub-headings.
  8. See earlier comment about Heading casing.
  9. Sections which include sub-sections should also include an overview paragraph (which doesn't need a separate heading) before branching into the sub-headings.

Key points[edit source]

  1. Key points are provided for some sections but not others.
  2. The suggested reference in the above comment could provide a valuable theoretical context/framework for the current chapter - suggest taking a look.
  3. Overview plan is basic - Consider adding:
    1. an image.
    2. an example or case study.
  4. Include in-text interwiki links for the first mention of key terms to relevant Wikipedia articles and/or to other relevant book chapters.
  5. Consider including more examples/case studies.
  6. Conclusion (the most important section) hasn't been developed.

Image[edit source]

  1. An image (figure) is presented.
  2. Caption
    1. uses APA style.
    2. could better explain how the image connects to key points being made in the main text.
  3. Cite each figure at least once in the main text.
  4. Consider increasing image size from default.

References[edit source]

  1. OK.
  2. For full APA style, use:
    1. correct capitalisation
    2. correct doi formatting

Resources[edit source]

  1. Very good
    1. Include source in brackets after link for external links
