1) MacIntosh, H. B. (2013). Mentalizing: An Exploration of its Potential Contribution to Understanding the Challenges Faced by Childhood Sexual Abuse Survivors in Couple Therapy. Mental Health, Psychoanalysis, Behavioural Sciences and Psychotherapy and Counseling 3(2), 188-207.

This recent paper combines clinical findings on the use of emotionally focused therapy for couples (EFT) where one partner had experienced childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and the empirical literature on the relationship between CSA and adult couple functioning. It shows that CSA survivors develop and maintain distress in intimate relationships. It might be a good starting point to look into emotion-foccussed therapy (as your looking at the emotional impact of assault), and again, might have some good links to other research.

2) Gail S. Goodman, Elizabeth Pyle Taub, David P. H. Jones, Patricia England, Linda K. Port, Leslie Rudy, Lydia Prado, John E. B. Myers and Gary B. Melton. (1992). Testifying in Criminal Court: Emotional Effects on Child Sexual Assault Victims. Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, 57(5), 159. link: http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.2307/1166127?uid=3737536&uid=2&uid=4&sid=21102810603211

This study looks at not only the emotional effects of the assault itself, but also testifying in court afterwards. It exmaines a smaple of 218 children who were sexual assault. after 7 months, hcildren who testified showed more behavioral disturbances, yet these adverse effects went away over time. It also has a good discussion on children's ability to cope with stressful situations, which may be relevant to your topic.

Good luck! :) Amber12 (discusscontribs)

Hey, I found this article which could be helpful in your book chapter.. Its on the emotional affects of women who were victims of sexual assault and how it relates to depression etc. I hope this helps. Hi there, I just read your book chapter and thought you did such an amazing job! I love how you have set everything out because it makes it really easy to read. For some reason I can't get your links to work? Perhaps that's a problem on my end? Great job though! U3037098

Overall

[edit source]

Well done for creating a really informative chapter on an interesting chapter!

Theory was well identified and a sound understanding of the concepts was demonstrated. It may be useful to focus on just 2 or 3 theories so that they can be described in greater detail.

Research was well incorporated throughout. To improve further, ensure that you use the most recent research e.g. Rape Trauma Syndrome is quite an old concept that is not generally used at present.

The chapter is really nicely presented and strucutred. Well done for including the interactive element of the quiz. To improve further, include more links throughout the work. ShaunaB (discusscontribs)
