Talk:Gene transcriptions/Promoters

Does a gene have only one promoter? What if the gene has alternate transcripts? I see from gene annotations at the UCSC genome browser that there can be multiple different transcription start sites listed for a single gene. Does a different transcription start site require a different promoter?

Thanks for the question! Please feel free to end your comments with four ~s. So far each gene has only one promoter even if it has many isoforms with different transcription start sites. --Marshallsumter (discusscontribs) 23:58, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
