Members of the Heeren family were present at a number of social events in Biarritz like the following, mostly reported on in The Gentlewoman.

1891 September 19, because of flooding in Consuegra, Spain, a subscription was raised, and "Mr. Arthur Heeren, a British subject, and a personal friend of [Signor Canovas] the Prime Minister [of Spain], has sent 300,000f. The Queen [Regent, Christina?] expressed her satisfaction, and instructed Signor Canovas to send her personal thanks to Mr. Heeren for his [gift?]"[1]

1892 February 22, Monday, M. and Mme. Heeren and Miss Heeren attended the Hunt Ball at the Casino in Biarritz.[2]

1894 December 27, The Gentlewoman reported on a couple of events in Biarritz around Christmas and the New Year: M. Heeren and M. Oscar Heeren attended the Christmas Ball at the Hôtel d'Angleterre, and a M. Oscar Heeren attended the first subscription dance at the casino.[3]

1897 July 2, attended the Duchess of Devonshire's fancy-dress ball at Devonshire House.

1897 October 6, Wednesday, the Comtesse de Heeren, Mlle. de Heeren, and M. Tito de Heeren were at the Country Club in Biarritz for "menagerie races."[4]

1897 November 13, Count and Countess Arthur de Heeren are listed "Among the prominent arrivals this week" in Paris from Biarritz.[5]

1898 February 28, Monday, Lady Fairbairn hosted a dance at the Villa Trois Fontaines at which M. Oscar Heeren led the cotillion with Lady Fairbairn's niece Miss Barrett-Lennard. M. Oscar Heeren led the cotillion with Miss Villiers Stuart at a dance at the Hotel Victoria about this time, perhaps a day earlier.[6]

Costume at the Duchess of Devonshire's 2 July 1897 Fancy-dress Ball[edit | edit source]

At the Duchess of Devonshire's fancy-dress ball, possibly Count Arthur de Heeren (at 265) was dressed as Duc de Ligne in the Court in the procession of Empress Catherine II of Russia.[7][8]
