1874 August and September, Franks "made a journey from Stockholm to St Petersburg and back through southern Finland" interacting with "contemporary Finnish cultural circles" (http://www.academia.edu/2541297/The_tedious_and_expensive_journey_Augustus_Wollaston_Frankss_travels_through_Finland_in_1874).

1878, Franks was "the juror in the section of pottery at the Paris exhibition of 1878" (Read).
