Language Studies[edit source]

I really like this layout. It's a great way to highlight the different school portals, and might be a good template to follow with other schools. Regarding the name, I am unable to locate any common reference to "Languages Studies". A Google search for "Languages Studies" returns "Language Studies" instead, which is the term I am familiar with. Can we rename this school as Language Studies, and include a redirect from Languages Studies? -- Dave Braunschweig (discusscontribs) 14:21, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think "language studies" is the same as linguistics, the study of Language with a big L, and not the learning of the different languages themselves. On Wikipedia, "Language studies" redirect to "Linguistics". I think, on the conversation on the Colloquium, we decided that Linguistics was a separate school. If that's the case, I do not think we should rename this school into "Language Studies". If we include linguistics, then yes I agree to this renaming. If not, we could always use the old name "School:Language and Literature", but just rename it "School:Languages and Literature". What do you think? And thank you for your comment about the layout. I changed my mind, see the discussion in the Colloquium. I agree with the renaming. And I think we should include Linguistics under this school. Amqui (discusscontribs) 16:33, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
