Pygmalion Effect

In a supervisor-subordinate relationship, the expectations of the supervisor, whether positive or negative, may be eventually fulfilled by the subordinate. This is important in job situations as the unstated expectations of the supervisor may, though nonverbal communication, affect the performance of the subordinate, not only as perceived by the supervisor, but also the actual performance.
