Add topicRainwater Harvesting Systems Suggestions
[edit source]Hi, I'm starting the discussion on this portal. I know that this project is essentially an extension of winona's efforts on Akvopedia to expand knowledge about rainwater harvesting, mainly low-income communities for smaller scale kinds of projects. I'm focused on rainwater harvesting systems and I've put some time and edits into the main page that can be accessed from this portal. However I also think that making this resource accessible and relevant to communities and countries where systems need to comply with more codes, laws and regulations would be a good idea. Also, where I'm from, Georgia, U.S., we have a decent investment in rainwater harvesting systems both at the residential and commercial scale, so having advic,e guides and case studies from all spheres would make this resource both broader in scope and richer in specifics.
This may entail large changes to the organization of the content here though. For example the above water tank link here that currently redirects to a akvopedia page on water tanks, seems to refer to construction details and recommendations that are very DIY. I think this material is valuable and should be included on this wikiversity page simply as one part of a larger discussion on concrete storage tanks, that are both DIY and not, and are 500 gallon capacity and are 50,000 gallon capacity. This is bit of a tangent, but if you have any recommendations or feedback to my post here, please respond! Thanks,--Ivangiesen (discuss • contribs) 14:15, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Ivangiesen: See Wikiversity:Statistics/2020/04 or any of the other recent statistics pages. This gives you an idea of what other people are looking for / searching for when they find Rainwater harvesting and related pages. It is interesting to note that, of the 40+ subpages, only three are in the top 1,000. People find the main page, but apparently don't dig too much deeper. Individual page statistics might tell you more.
- You can either focus on the audience and help them find what they want, or you can focus on the information you believe needs to be shared and try to arrange that in a format that builds interest. There is high demand currently, but not a lot of follow through. -- Dave Braunschweig (discuss • contribs) 03:04, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
